OPEN
Date & Time: 11/28, shortly after nightfall
Location: the closest forested area
Characters: Isaac and anyone who happens upon him!
Summary: The full moon has risen, so this werewolf is off to transform and get a little hunting in. What could possibly go wrong? (Answer: everything)
Warnings: possible violence and mentioned nudity, and body horror (transforming)
So maybe it had not been a good idea to make his first public introduction on a full moon day. Isaac didn't know what he'd been thinking. Or, well, he did, and doing thinking with the need to run and move and find his pack (a pack; any pack) running wild in his head was not a good idea. Too late now, and he could barely keep it to a jog as he made his way out of the city and into the wilder places. He'd have to deal with the fallout once he'd dealt with the night's business and he had a long jog before there was anything close to a forest. He'd settled for clean water, some stunted trees and brush and ...prey, honestly.
As he jogged on the unsettled land ahead felt more sinister than welcoming. He didn't like it here; nothing smelled right, or even looked right. But he needed to change, and his spine was already creaking and cracking against his will. He didn't want to change yet, but his rhythms were off. It had been only two weeks to the full moon at home, but almost a month here. Holding it off had finally become too much. He hadn't dared earlier, and still didn't want to give in to the vulnerability. It wasn't safe. But the ripples of pain were becoming more frequent no matter how hard he tried to stop them.
With a curse Isaac broke into a full run, dashing full out over the last stretch of land to the available cover and dropping the bag of raw meat to the ground with nary a care. The juices were already soaking through but paper was easier to get through than plastic and if he didn't hurry he'd be sneaking back into town without any clothes. He usually folded them neatly but there really wasn't time. His hands hurt; his face hurt; his legs were twitching and cracking as bones broke and tendons tore.
He barely got the clothing off before the first real rush of change went through him, contorting his spine with a series of pops and making him cry out as he fell fully to the ground. His skin was splitting and tearing and every bone twisted inside him and cracked like they were snapping into splinters. He might have been screaming but it was impossible to tell.
There was only pain; the pain consumed all.
Isaac came back to awareness of things other than pain to the feeling of fur--always one of the last changes--growing in and rolled around because it itched. So he was still a pup sometimes; sue him. It felt good now. Better than good even. Everything felt bright and full of joy.
There was so much to do. He could explore and find pack and hunt. Yes--
MEAT. There was meat and it smelled divine. Isaac wasted no time tearing through the paper--so much better than plastic that got stuck in his teeth--and gulping down the wet, too cold (bah; should have warmed it) chunks.
Not enough, but it was a start. He could hunt now. And with that, he trotted off through the dapples of moonlight through the scant branches and bush, too focused on perspective prey to notice or care if anyone was getting their first glimpse of the giant wolf he'd become.
((OOC: Open for anyone to come upon him at any time during the night! He'll stay away from the city itself, but anywhere outside that is fair game. It would have been easy to follow him; he wasn't really paying the best attention at the time.))

I am a bad person and should feel bad
This is why she was in the forest - however, the fact that it was after nightfall - well! She had lost herself in her meditation, and in doing so, lost track of the time.
With a sharp exhale, she let her brown eyes slide open, feeling like she'd run for miles, worn out and exhausted. "Ah -" Crap! She had't realized it was this late.
no this will be beautiful
He was so hungry and he wanted to chase and hunt--or play, but there was no one to play with--
What was that? The sound alerted him and he bounded after it without thinking. And then things caught up to him and he skidded to an awkward stop not five feet from her, looking as shocked as a giant wolf could look.
Damn. He was so screwed--
pfff :D
Perhaps the only thing that has saved her from being puppychow(tm) is the fact that it looked as surprised as she was. "A.... a wolf. Aa- this ... this is not good." Was it hunting? It was a beautiful creature but - She didn't want to be on the menuuuuu!
The worst part is she could tell how little magic was left - if she used it all up before it had a chance to restore itself, she would be even more vulnerable. "Maybe if I move slowly." Sure, sudden movements are never good around wild animals. With her back against a tree, she starts to push herself to her feet, watching the animal carefully.

Maybe he'd be lucky and they'd assume giant wolves were much like those creepy crows and native. Of course, if any natives spoke up otherwise... Damn and damn again.
Isaac hardly dares to breathe, and is entirely focused on her as she moves. But his ears are just a little drooped and his tail held carefully neutral--the best he can do to look nonthreatening when he suspects he outweighs her by a good bit. No screaming please.
no subject
No, she won't scream, unless he came at her - and he didn't appear to be doing that just yet. Just watching. Watching is good.
Except Lucy wasn't paying attention where she was going, and that, plus her exhaustion from meditation, ...well she always was klutzy when she was distracted.
That bit of root sticking up from the ground? The heel of her boot catches against it, and she momentarily turned her attention away from the wolf to the sudden need for balance. "Wa-ah!" Flail flail and FALL! "A..a.oow..!" Damn, that hurt. Actually she may have hurt her ankle that time.
no subject
Isaac wants to help, or at least check to make sure it isn't more than a simple fall, but he doubts she would let him close enough. At least... Well, she was a human, so it's not like crawling on his belly for another wolf. Isaac drops down, putting his nose on his paws and whines again, more loudly. Not going to hurt you, see?
Now to see if she'll calm down, and if she's injured.
no subject
That's... weird. "What are ..." At least the surprise helps to distract her from the initial fear, replacing it with curiosity. So... not a wild wolf?
"Sorry... I - I guess you startled me." She's used to talking to animals and creatures that don't talk back. She smiles in spite of herself because that's kind of a cute reaction from the woofie.
no subject
With that in mind, Isaac doesn't stand and come closer to investigate her ankle like he wants to, but just rests where he is, stretched out on the ground. He's hungry, of course, but a good experience and the rumors that might spread from it might save his life someday.
He tilts his head, trying to appear inquisitive, and voices a soft sound--kind of like a whuffling half-bark.
no subject
Glancing up at where the wolf...dog? --animal! was stretched out, she stifles a laugh. Awww. "Come here --boy?" She pats the ground in front of her. "It's okay."
no subject
Life just isn't fair, but he's content with things as they are for now. He has permission to come close, so he does. Careful not to make any sudden moves still, but he nudges at her ankle, trying to see if there's any signs of injury. Pain has its own scent and he can't smell much, but on the other hand she hasn't stood up yet either.
no subject
Her foot twitched at the nudge, because COLD NOSE, and Lucy tilted her head, finding his actions rather fascinating. "You're not what I would have expected a wolf to be like... but I guess that's because of the way this place is. It did mention the animals were different."
And hey, any wolf that wasn't attacking or anything is a good wolf in her book. She flexed her foot, slightly, and aside from a brief twinge occasionally, she didn't feel any pain otherwise. "Think it's okay.."
no subject
He can't really check out her ankle more thoroughly like this, not without hands and the ability to ask questions, but he doesn't think it's badly injured. Twisted or lightly sprained, maybe, but it's impossible to really tell. Still he can't leave her out here, but he can't really walk back with her either. The dilemma has him staring off at nothing for a moment but then Isaac gets an idea. If the ankle hurts, she might be able to walk faster with some support. It wouldn't hurt, at any rate.
He dashes off and comes back with a large downed branch in his teeth. It's not all that straight, but it's not rotted and it's long enough to be used as a staff to lean on. Isaac deposits it at her feet and does his best to make his muzzle look like a smile.
no subject
Oh wait. Lucy blinks in surprise when the 'wolf' dashes off. WHile he's gone, she's in the process of unlacing her shoe to gingerly pull it off, for a better look at her ankle, fingers carefully prodding at her foot. It still twinges a little - she'd probably just twisted it. Nothing horrible.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaand he's back! "Eh?" But but it has wolf slobber on it... oh well, she can't be picky. "Is this for me?" She glances at the animal, and ... she'd SWEAR he was smiling. Nah, that's her imagination, gotta be.
She leans down, taking the branch in her hand, "Lucky~!" Flashing a bright smile to the wolf, she tests her weight on her ankle with the staff, "Thanks for this; this will help out a lot."
no subject
Better to have her away from his hunting ground for the night.
no subject
"Thanks," she grins at the wolf, "Sorry about being startled by you earlier." She can only assume it understands her language after all - he certainly has been acting thusly so far.
no subject
He's careful to keep his pace easy, but it's hard, because he has too much energy and hunger gnaws at him.
no subject
But with the wolf as her guide, she stepped lightly after him - and once she's reached the edge of the forest, she turned, smiling at the animal. "Thanks for your help - I can manage from here."
no subject
With the full moon up it would be possible to watch him for some distance through the thin trees, sleek and powerful as he ran back the way they'd come.
