It's a little dangerous for me, if i just ate donuts and other sweet things all the time to keep my mana up. I have to watch my figure, after all.

[ Although her mana doesn't burn off the calories quite as fast as she'd like, so she doesn't take that chance too often. ]

But if I rest long enough, my mana replenishes itself. [ Although if she overuses her magic that could be life threatening. She giggles, holding up her hands. ]

I would never. [ She manages to keep from giggling at that blatant statement about his looks. ]

Good looking people like us have it easy with missions like these. [ Ahaha, she shakes her head at the latter. ]

NOpe, no problems whatsoever. [ 'Scept for that guy who thought her light flirting meant she was a whore, tracked her down and got -beat down- by Natsu as a result. But the other people were much more respectable! ]

Great! Let's go!

Huh? I'm sure you'd be pretty after a million doughnuts, Princess.

Exactly! It's almost unfair. [Almost. He was sure there were plenty of people who were making them look bad, because people inevitably would.]

[He tips his seriously awesome hat to her before he abruptly begins to walk, hands in the pockets of his coat. He hums his next words to a tune half-under his breath.]

Wonder what there's to see~ You found anywhere interesting yet? [Shops might be fun; he kept thinking he wanted to collect things that reminded him of his friends, to keep home--and why he needed to stay positive--firmly in mind.]

[ Oh Haruto, you charmer you. ]

Do you really think so? [ Giggling at the thought, because really the mental image is not that attractive. But just imagining herself lounging on a chaise with cute guys fanning her and feeding her donuts -- OH! Imagine if ERZA was the one feeding her donuts...! ]

Haha~! That's a little crazy - but thank you, Haruto. [ No Lucy, your -imagination- is crazy. Thorougly amused by the hat tip, she bobs her head courteously, a playful smile on her lips, listening to the tune thoughtfully. ]

Not yet- I was hoping there might be a natural spring around here, but, no such luck. Ah - I found a place that sells little trinkets, like wood carvings and things. Want to go see?

Of course! [His eyebrows rise when she starts to giggle; she's definitely in imagination-land. He has experience with the type.]

A spring? Do you just like water, or were you hoping for an onsen trip? [Either way, not likely to find something here.] Trinkets? Sounds perfect.

[ Clearly he is wise in the subject of donut eating. Although Lucy doesn't think she's going to give it a go anytime soon anyway. Tubby Lucy's no matter how attractive they are, are not very useful as wizards. Especially when Tubby Lucy's can't walk. ]

An open air onsen would be pretty nice, but I don't think they would have anything like that around here. Natsu says that we all went to one not to long ago- the entire guild -but I don't remember anything about it in my personal timeline. He was brought in a little later than the two of us, so he had to catch us up.

[ Still, the disappointment at the lack of an onsen is fleeing, and she brightens at the agreement. ]

Okay! Then if I remember correctly -[ ANd she does. ] It's this way. [ She'll lead the way on towards said small cluster of shops, in fact, scanning for the one she'd spied earlier. ]

Natsu--a friend from home? [He wasn't sure whether to offer his apologies or be jealous. Then again, if her friends could defend themselves, they were better off than his.]

I suppose it'd be too nice to expect an onsen around here, wouldn't it? Maybe next time.

Well then, go right ahead! [He follows, bemused.]

Yes. One of my best friends. [ That...she occasionally has conflictings feels for but shh, she's in super duper heavy denial mode on that. ]

Hn, it's not really the right area for it either, I think. I don't think they even have anything that's the equivalent to an onsen around here. [ She smiles absently. ]

Actually, I feel a little selfish, but I was glad when I found Erza and Natsu here. It'd be better if they were back in Fiore, with everything that's been going on, but if they're here, I won't be--

[ She stops short, inwardly grimacing. Oh you stepped in it there, Lucy!~ Way to go on about having your friends here when you don't even know if he had his. She cast a quick glance Haruto-wards as if trying to read his expression, only for her glance to dance away again, awkward as she stepped into the trinket store. Which was blessedly OUT OF THE SUN. ]

Ahhhh, I see.

America really is lacking in that respect. What I'd give to be back in Japan~ [Even just for things like onsen. Or his neighborhood.]

Don't feel like that! Anyone would be glad to see a familiar face, wouldn't they? Though maybe not every familiar face... [He offers her a smile that seems sincere, and is certainly calm. The day he saw Phoenix or Medusa skulking around here was the day he quit. Not being able to escape the Phantom menace even here? Not happening.]

[He pats her shoulder as he moves around her, to look at things. Let's see here...

That's a shame. THere's nothing like a nice open air onsen. What's your world - Japan, I mean - what is it like?

[ A pause at his point, but relieved that he didn't seem offended or upset that she mentioned having her friends here - when he might not. Or maybe he did! She smiles absently. ]

Not every familiar face, no. [ There were a lot of people she would rather not see around here - especially if they came from the Grand Magic games. Watching him step around to investigate the trinkets though, she grins. ]

Do you see anything interesting? [ As for herself, she pokes at a tiny wooden horse, thoroughly amused. It's TINY and CUTE. ]

Japan? Pretty normal, usually, there are cities and towns all over. The capitol kind of has a monster problem, though. What's your world like?

[He's bent to peer at a little bird carving.] Yeah. I like this one. [He thinks he'll name it Koyomi, after his assistant.He picks it up, balancing is gently on his palm, and turns back toward her.]

[ She'd take a carved wooden dragon, but they didn't seem to have any, more's the pity. She picked up a small case instead, polished mahogany. Neat. ]

Well, it doesn't really have a monster problem, unless you happen to be traveling or you go into their territory. Mostly the trouble comes from other wizards, or Dark Guilds. But unlike a place like this, or - back in Exsilium at least - they don't have the same level of technology. The communicators we use, they're more like communications lacrima - magic crystals with spells layered into them. But Fiore is pretty peaceful aside from that - parts of it are similar to here, as far as how we take on various missions to help people who need it.

[ Carefully setting the box in her hands back down, she peers over to see what Haruto picked up. ]

Ahh, that's really cute. I didn't know you liked birds.

Dark Guilds? [Lucy's home sounded interesting.]

Magic is that important? I'm the only one of two wizards in Japan, so magic is secondary to technology. Exsilium is ahead of us, of course, but their systems are familiar. As for monsters, well, they seem to be focused on Tokyo specifically. It's a little strange, really.

[He lifts the little bird for her to get an easier look at it.]

I'm not, usually. Dragons are more my speed. But it reminds me of my... assistant. [That was one word for Koyomi, anyway. He smiles, thinking of her.]

[ Interesting is definitely a word for it. ]

Yeah - there are dark guilds and light guilds in Fiore. The Dark Guilds are the ones who might take on assassinations, or who cause a lot of problems for the country. Like people who want to rule the world, or destroy it.

[ A light nod with a smile. ]

For wizards especially, magic is our way of life. Actually, just about everything is done by magic in Fiore. [ Thoughtful for a moment, because why Tokyo? ]

Maybe there's something in Tokyo that draws them. Like an attractor or something. [ That'd suck. Politely admiring the bird carving, she grins, with sudden interest. ]

I see. You should get it, if you can, then! [ Ponder - oh wait. ]

So do you have dragons in Tokyo? My friend Natsu - he loves dragons too - he was raised by one, actually.

Ruling the world? Well, at least they aim high, right? [He smirks.]

It's certainly possible. Whoever created the Phantoms I fight might just be local, though. [Which seems preposterous, so he snorts and pulls the carving in toward his chest, carefully curling his fingers around it.]

I think I will.

[Ah.] Not... quite. [He reaches up to tap his breastbone.] I have one inside me. My Phantom.

[ Lucy smiles, absently. ]

Or maybe they're just uncreative - it's always that type that wants to rule the world or take over a kingdom or something. [ CLASSIC plot cliche in any heroic tale. Even Lucy's fallen into that trap, sad to say. ]

[ Whoah WHAT. She looks up and at Haruto in surprise for a moment. ]

Wait -- what do you mean inside you? [ She thought these Phantom things were bad news! ]

Well, if they win, I don't think it's cliche any more, is it? [Or, it's probably not, anyway.]

He's my Phantom. He lives in my Underworld--where my hope is found. But I've mastered him, and he allows me to use his power. [Well, mostly. Unless he broke. But he wouldn't break, so he sheds the worry to direct a reassuring smile her way.] Don't worry, I'm not in any danger.

[ Ooh. There's a point to that. ]

I suppose it wouldn't be, if they did win. But I think I'd still rather try to prevent it. Even if that itself is a cliche too.

[ No Haruto, don't break. No breaking. :( ]

You're sure...? [ Well, she's going to trust him in that, even though it was still a little worrying. ]

I'd rather be the winning good guy cliche than the losing one, between you and me.

[He's working on it, Lucy.]

Trust me! I know what I'm talking about. [It wasn't as if he really needed to borrow Dragon's power here, anyway, at least not yet. He gives her a big, obnoxious wink, and slides past her to purchase the little bird.]

Hehee - So would I, so we're in agreement there. [ She smirks faintly at that obnoxious wink, mentally shaking her head because you are SILLEH Haruto. ]

I guess I'll have to trust you then, right? You know your limits.

Of course I do. Did you find anything you liked?

[He's finished off paying up, now, and takes the little wrapped parcel in careful hands before he turns toward her and leans against the counter a little.]

Just this! [ Lucy holds up a cute little carving of a cat raising its little paw. ]

I really shouldn't, but it was so cute, I can't possibly resist. [ And it was inexpensive enough that she can spend a little money on it without risking dipping into money for their room or food or anything. Erza'd strangle her if she did that. Well maybe not strangle. Maybe maim a little. ]

Wow, it's cute!

[He crosses his arms low and smirks at her.] She matches her new owner.

[ She just puffs up at the compliment, beaming fit to pop. And why not? Who doesn't love truth and compliments rolled up into one! ]

Isn't it just? Hehee, it'll be a cute little souvenir to go back with. [ Wait - didn't she already have a souvenir with those clothes? PFF. For Lucy there ARE no limits! ]
