SPEED DATING [CLOSED]
Date & Time: Various!
Location: Various!
Characters: Two boys, two girls, one Adam. Pimp extraordinaire.
Summary: Who would've thought that pre-augs Adam could be kinda personable. Catchall log for 'dates' of any sort during the timeywimey event; starter will be edited as the need arises.
Warnings: Outrageous flirting??
[ -- vanadi --
So here he is, at about ten to seven in the evening of the 19th, waiting in front of a steakhouse—well, it's pretty much the only steakhouse around here, or at least the only one Adam had seen on his short walk, which is pretty much the only reason why he hadn't been able to suggest another location—he doesn't know any other places.
And somehow, he has a feeling that the same is true for Vanadi. The whole thing stinks, but if he wants to get to the bottom of this, he'll have to start somewhere.
And if he has to humor a weird (and probably gay) elf guy, well, so be it. Sometimes you just have to play along while keeping a straight face. He can do that. ]
[ -- collette --
And at eight on the 20th, Adam will be showing up at Unit 403 in order to pick up Collette, as promised. Despite the fog dominating his mind right now, he's trying really hard to fit back in, as if nothing's ever happened—he's at a stage of his life where he wants to be around people and needs a network of contacts, because he knows from experience that it makes everything, anything, much more bearable. Had it not been for certain people being there for him when his parents died, well...
Anyway, time to be a gentleman and indulge a young lady; he's actually looking forward to that. He knocks, waiting to be let in—or for her to come out, depending on how pressing the need for drinks is. ]
[ -- edgeworth --
...And at exactly one minute BEFORE half past one, Adam will be arriving in the lobby, looking slightly more friendly but his fashion style doesn't seem to have changed significantly in the last ten years.
And, ironically, he's wearing sunglasses as he enters like the cool guy he is. But he has the courtesy (or rather, the common sense) to actually take them off and stuff them into one of his pockets inside a building, apparently. ]

( Collette calls out, good on her word when she answers the door thirty seconds or so later. She moves to the side, looking up at Adam and curious to see how he'd roll along with learning for a second time that she's paraplegic.
Or at the very least, that she's chairbound at the moment. )
Hey, Adam! You're right on time.
( And this girl looks like she's ready to go work out on the side of a snowy mountain, except she's wearing jeans instead of snowpants.
This, apparently, is date material to Collette. )
no subject
So what if she's in a wheelchair?
Sure it makes a couple of things more difficult, but Adam's dealt with worse. They can still talk and have fun, no problem.
...He does want to ask if it's a permanent thing, though, but he feels like that's something he should know. So... ]
Don't make it sound like it's a rare occurence. You ready to go?
no subject
( She glances toward the window, but there's no obvious evidence one way or the other. Collette's glad he's taking this in stride. It expands upon her fondness for the older man. )
no subject
It wasn't. Might be wise to take an umbrella anyway, just in case we have bad luck. Unless, of course, you'd prefer me to shield you from the rain like the nice and considerate guy you know I am.
no subject
I'd love to see you try! But you're right, the rain around here's crazy unpredictable. Ugh! I'm missing New Mexico already.
( Take that, Caesar. SOMEHOW, TAKE THAT! She wheels off to pull out her improvised chair-attachable umbrella, hooking it across the back of her chair at an angle, tucked in behind her water-proofish satchel. )
All right, let's do this!
no subject
That almost sounded like a challenge.
[ The question is what exactly he refers to, here. Anyway, he's gonna move behind her chair so he can wheel her -- he probably doesn't have to, and he isn't even sure if she takes offense to it, but asking would be weird and he means well. ]
no subject
Not going fast enough for you there, tiger?
( Her eyes are the only thing that narrow a little, tone affable enough and overall looking more curious and amused than bothered by the presumption. )
no subject
Just thought I knew how to treat a girl, but apparently not. If you don't want me to...
no subject
Better if you ask first! I don't mind when people ask, but backseat drivers are the worst when they're unexpected.
( She winks, taking control and propelling herself forward. )
Makes a girl feel all out of control, and not in the fun way!
no subject
[ Fine then, he'll let her wheel herself around then unless she specifically asks him to help her out. Adam follows close behind. ]
Sometimes it can be nice to let someone else take control, though.
no subject
Yeah, I agree! Do you like it when someone else takes control, Adam?
( Sideways look up at him with a slier grin. )
no subject
... Occasionally.
[ And ride down the elevator they do. He keeps talking anyway, ]
Depends on the time and the place. And how comfy the bed is.
[ Okay there he went there anyway. ]
no subject
( Collette giggles, shooting him an aghast look. )
I can't believe you said that!
( Really more surprised he did but also less. It's like everyone's gone a little silly in the head in shifting timeframes.
Still, as she rolls out of the elevator on the ground floor, she smiles. )
Speaking of beds, I'm so glad to be back in mine after New Mexico. Oh god, if I see another horse-blanket before I'm twenty...
no subject
[ He smirks, evidently amused with her reaction. He can't afford to be boring, anyway, and he doesn't get the feeling she's uncomfortable... ]
And I don't think it was so bad. Enjoy the adventure while you can. You'll be able to sleep in a nice warm bed often enough, 'specially when you grow older.
no subject
( She grins as they head outside. )
Where are we heading for milkshakes?
no subject
[ Milkshakes.... right. He did pick out a place before, a small one which mostly serves burgers. Because you can never go wrong with those, right? ]
You'll see soon enough. Why don't you tell me more about things you enjoy until then.
no subject
Guess we can start with the logical one! Skiing.
( Then she'll chatter on about the things she loves without inhibition. Skiing, skateboarding, the X-Games, her one day bungee jumping hopes and the thrill of excitement she suppose is behind freefall in human form a la skydiving. )
no subject
He does so anyway, whenever she pauses to breathe. ]
Sorry but... how do you do it? I mean...
[ Yeah. How do you go skiiing or skateboarding in a wheelchair ... ]
no subject
( She's matter of fact. )
They do have paraplegic skis for adults. It's harder for kids, but one of these days!
( And that's that. These are all things she enjoys.
They're just not things she's personally done. )
no subject
... Alternatively, you could borrow someone else's legs. Piggyback rides make it possible.
[ It's a suggestion
maybe. ]
no subject
( She looks intrigued at the idea, coasting along right now. )
no subject
What if I were?
no subject
( Said with a pleased grin: regardless of follow through, she appreciates the thought. )
no subject
[ He shrugs--it's certainly worth a try and he doesn't see why it wouldn't work as long as she holds onto him real tight. ]
no subject
( She doesn't even feel like she's boasting. She's been using her own chair for years - her own manual chair, to boot - and has been in majority control of herself and all her necessities for the last eight years, with exceptions for when she was ill.
She's pretty confident in herself! And being... blunt about something she'd rather not be, though she supposes it might answer a question of his. If he'd wondered. )
no subject
That so?
Then I suppose we got another date next time it's snowing.
no subject
( She finds it altogether amusing. )
Either way, when you're back to normal, I'm not going to forget you said that. Especially if Jack can be convinced to make it snow again!
no subject
He glances around as he arrives, wondering if his manly company of the evening has already seated himself or will have waited, dog-like, outside. Or maybe he left, though that would be a shame. ]
no subject
So he's waiting, impatiently, in front of the restaurant when Vanadi finally arrives.
What an ass. He can only assume it's payback for earlier. ]
Got lost?
[ ... It's meant to sound sarcastic, but strangely enough it would make sense, too. ]
no subject
[ He steps past Adam even as he's putting the finishing touches on his grooming, glancing around at the interior. ]
Now, what is this here? A... steakhouse, didn't you say?
no subject
Congratulations.
[ It sounds flat and dry, but otherwise unimpressed, because he doesn't really care as long as he doesn't hope to get laid easily a second time. ]
Yeah, it is. Serves meat primarily. You know.
[ And with that, he just walks straight in. Adams first. ]
no subject
Jensen! I didn't think that you would make it!
no subject
That so? I'm not usually late to anything unless I have a very good reason.
[ Like people dying or something. ]
Did you have a place in mind? I'd rather avoid any and all canteen food, by the way.
no subject
There's a coffee shop down the road. [ And he indicates the direction with a point; some distance behind Adam's head. ] And let's just say that previous experiences haven't been particularly encouraging.
no subject
His gaze follows the direction Edgeworth's pointing in. ]
Right. Tell me about them.
[ ... he's not entirely sure if he really wants to hear about it, but he's always been curious--about a lot of things, including himself. He waits for Edgeworth to take point. ]
no subject
...You gave me a gag Christmas gift.
no subject
Wouldn't that imply some level of fondness and familiarity? Unless you have a problem with that.
no subject
Coming from you? It was more of an insult.
no subject
[ Yeah Adam is vaguely amused. Edgeworth does seem like the type to get all huffy about silly little things. ]
no subject
Just so you know, I'm more than capable of eating lunch alone.
no subject
And Edgeworth's dress sense sure is... odd. And easy to make fun of. ]
You can make fun of mine if you'd like.
no subject
You speak as though I'd need your permission.
no subject
I'm just saying that it wouldn't bother me as much. There are other more important issues that people should be upset about, and I was hoping you'd agree.
no subject
no subject
[ grudgeworth. they're at the coffee shop now, and adam gestures him inside. ]
After you.
