New Girl (and Guy?)

Characters: Rise Kujikawa, Yamanaka Ino, Leo Baskerville, possibly open?
Summary: With all the new arrivals, Ino gets a new roommate! Actually, she gets two, but since one of them is kind of tied up at the moment, the girls get a head start on getting to know each other. Just your typical roommates log, nothing else to see here.

{ooc: Seemed like a good idea when Asami posted a log like this the other day! The roomies can invite friends over to join in the shenanigans in later parts of the week if no one has a problem with that.}

[ Thanks to his little stunt with Jabberwock, Leo had been stuck in the clinic for a few days. To say that those last few days had been a hectic mess would be an understatement.

Now he'd finally regained at least enough strength to make his way over to his assigned apartment where apparently he was going to have roommates. Not something he was exactly keen on, but he was resigned to his fate here by now. At least it wasn't an unfamiliar concept to him, back in the orphanage rooms had to be shared too.

There's still reluctance though, when he unlocks the door and steps inside. ]

Rise was sitting on the couch looking through her tablet when she heard the door. It sounded like someone with a key, so... does that mean their other roommate is here already?

And she had just gotten a bit more comfortable living with Ino, too! But despite her misgivings, she doesn't want to seem impolite.

"Hello?"

Hearing the person announce himself, Rise just sits there stunned for a second. Their new roommate is a guy?!

Sure she knew the housing units were co-ed - Cairistiona had a guy living in her apartment too. She just never expected it to happen to her.

At least he's not bad to look at, though. Which makes it that much easier to set aside the mild shock and give him a friendly smile. "Oh, wow, that was quick! We have a new roommate already?"

She's obviously totally unaware that he should have shown up the same day she did...

[flecks]

Whatever Leo was expecting, a girl wasn't it. He's equally shocked to find a girl greeting him and he stares back, just as stunned. Was it a mistake? It had to be. Back in Lutwidge Academy they wouldn't even think of putting the dorms of the girls and boys anywhere near each other, much less have them room together. It was inappropriate to say the least.

He shakes off the shock to return the smile awkwardly and mutter a greeting and an apology for the staring before figuring he should explain his late appearance.

"I was in the Clinic, but maybe this is the wrong room ... "

He has a black sheathed sword in hand and he shifts it from one hand to the other with a bit of fumbling so he can take a closer look at the key he was given. There's no mistaking the number on it though and he just ends up frowning at it.

Rise totally gets his uncertainty about this whole thing. She's just had a few days to get used to the idea, even if she's not really sure she's comfortable with it yet.

"They don't really seem to care about separating the girls and guys, if that's what you mean."

"So!" She sets aside her misgivings - and her tablet - for now and grins, "Welcome home, I guess! And you'd better behave, 'cause I'm not the only cute girl living here!"

She tosses him a playful wink at that. She'll worry privately about suddenly having co-ed living arrangements later, right now she's dealing with it by teasing the new guy.

"Oh, and I'm Rise, by the way..." She doesn't directly ask his name, but looks at him expectantly.

Ino had heard someone come in and Rise talking to them, though not everything was being said, so she'll peek out of her room and into the living room curiously. Her hair is down, and she has a hairbrush in her hand -- even if they're at war, looking nice is important, okay!

But the sight that greets her is a little bit surprising.

"Eh? Leo?" She'll take a few more steps into the room. He couldn't be living here, could he ... ? "What are you doing here?"

Not that she minded, but she wasn't exactly expecting him to show up here.

Frankly, Leo has no idea how to deal with this. Being roomed with girls ... Seriously, what was the Initiative thinking? How utterly inappropriate. And now this girl was winking at him and Leo has no long shaggy bangs or glasses to hide his face behind or Elliot by his side to turn to and let take control of the situation anymore. It's rather disconcerting how something so mundane seems so foreign to him now.

"I'm— "

Eh? Leo?

Leo turns his head in the direction the voice came from and his eyes widen in surprise upon seeing the familiar figure. "Ino!"

That, a familiar face, at least comes as a small comfort. To answer her question, he holds up his key and plasters a sheepish smile on his face.

Okay, it's actually kind of cute how flustered the new guy's getting. But before he can answer, they hear movement from where at least Rise knows is their other resident's room.

Rise turns to glance in her direction, "Oh, Ino-chan..."

She must have heard them talking or something. But Rise wasn't prepared for the familiarity between her and the newcomer.

"Wait, you know each other?"

Maybe that'll make it easier? If Ino already knows this Leo guy, Rise already feels a little more comfortable with him. Even if she's not entirely behind the idea of having a guy living here with them. At least they have separate rooms...

[ino]

She smiles when she sees the key. Even if they don't know each other well, Leo came off as fairly courteous and easy to get along with when she'd interacted with him before, so the fact that he's rooming with them is welcome news. She's not unfamiliar with living with and around boys, so the gender doesn't bother her ... however, she has to wonder whether or not he's too thrilled to be living with two girly-girls.

She turns to Rise to answer her first, though. "Yeah, I took him to the clinic when he was injured the other day. Rise-chan, this is Leo -- Leo, Rise-chan." After she gestures to the both of them, she'll set the hairbrush down on the coffee table, and step forward to be a more welcoming host. "Well, I guess that makes us all roommates now, huh? Come on in, I'll show you around the apartment."

As Ino answers, Leo takes the moment to shut the door behind him and properly move inside to join the girls. This was all quite odd, but Leo shakes off the feeling and slips back into the role of the mild-mannered servant as he pockets the key before offering Rise his free hand. "That's right, Ino rescued me. It's nice to meet you, Miss Rise."

He's not sure what the 'chan' was about, but he goes with how Rise had introduced herself. He flashes Ino an uncertain smile, nodding gratefully.

"I must say, this sure is surprising." He doesn't just mean meeting Ino here, but the entire rooming situation in general.

Rise tilts her head curiously, looking a bit concerned about this injury news. But she's quickly interrupted by his introduction, and rushes to respond. "Nice to meet you too, Leo-san!"

It takes her a moment to realize he's probably offering a handshake, and she accepts with a very light touch. So far, he certainly seems like he'll at least be a gentleman!

"I've had a few days to get used to it, but yeah. It's still kinda weird..." As she speaks, she gets up from the couch to follow along with him and Ino. She hasn't lived here for long, but it wouldn't exactly be proper to just sit there while Ino shows the new guy around.

Of course, she still feels like the odd girl out on this whole injury news. She gives Leo a quick once-over, but can't really tell what sort of injury it could have been.

"What happened, anyway?"
