[OPEN]
Date & Time: Friday the 29th- April 1st
Location: Around Exsilium, specifically to the north
Characters: Any
Summary: Loki places illusions around the island to trick people into believing the United Earth is attacking.
Warnings: Possible violence/language.
Loki sat in his throne, gazing into the green orb levitating in the air before him. In it he watched his chaos start to unfurl. That....machine... the one people called the AI, was even now giving a warning. He enjoyed imagining that its tone would be panicked had it a voice.
"The Initiative is a legion of fools," he laughed to himself. "Stealing away Gods who have no desire to fight for them. They are in no position to fight a war... But if they refuse to acknowledge this perhaps they require proof and Loki shall provide." There was nobody else in the room to hear his words, he was content to talk aloud to himself.
With a wave of his hand another golem disguised as a UE soldier rose from the earth outside his castle and started making its way south through the mountains....
[OOC: State where and when you are in your threads and interact amongst yourselves! I can NPC the soldiers if requested, but you are more than welcome to write them yourselves. More on the event here. Ask any questions at the post provided in the link.))

Back home he'd failed his fellow orphan siblings at the House of Fianna. He'd been unable to protect them. He wants it to be different here. He'd asked for his community service to take place at the orphanage instead of repairing buildings on something of a whim. It's work he's familiar with and work he's good at after all. Although if he was honest with himself, it's also because he craves that familiarity. The Exile orphanage is a fragile hope to him as well. Here in Exsilium he's out of the Abyss's reach. There's no Glen in his head, no flecks of golden lights in the air and (hopefully) no more attracting misfortune because of it. It's the hope that he's right about it that allows him to seek out the familiarity he so desperately wants (and it's fear and a lot of what-ifs that keep him away from Elliot still.)
For once he just wants to protect something and succeed.
At least he has enough sense to wait until he's made his way outside the Hold before summoning Jabberwock who immediately takes to the sky to attack the air crafts while Leo hurriedly keeps moving in the opposite direction of where everyone's going, seemingly unarmed. ]

but...for some reason, no matter how clear the eye contact, nothing? nothing at all?
not a good thing.
BEHOLD: a child ducking punches and sidestepping charges, looking completely baffled and intently trying to eyeball the people lunging at him.
why isn't this working–?!]
no subject
But well, he'd come out here with every intention of using Jabberwock so that's what he does. A quick cry of "Jabberwock!" is enough to tell the Chain what to do and it comes swooping down to crush two of the soldiers behind Jericho beneath its mighty claws. A second later and Leo appears by the monstrous-looking creature's side. ]
What are you doing? [ His tone isn't quite snappish, but it's definitely an impatient, scolding one. ]
no subject
the scale and surprise sends Jericho staggering, landing hard in the dirt and scrambling quickly for distance. and then there's a person there, a person just before the monster that's going to get eaten and, and...oh, man. not good! he rips his gaze from the beast to the eyes--
contact.
he's not going to waste a second; he's got to get this guy away. run!!]
no subject
Jabberwock naturally moves with him, purely driven by an instinct to protect its Master. It lashes out at anything that comes near Leo's body but remains protectively close.
Meanwhile for Leo, surprise is starting to make way for sheer horror quite quickly. ]
no subject
actually, that might be the only thing anyone's winning -- that monster just won't be shaken! Jericho's own mind is buzzing with he fast, fractured thoughts of half-formed ideas; really, he's not a monster-fighting expert!
and, of course, there's people in the way. the ones the monster isn't taking down first are ones Jericho sends Leo's limbs after, a bit awkward at first as he tries to adjust to having a longer reach, faster steps, and more of a body to duck and move away from flailing limbs.
at last, he sees a pretty narrow alley and darts that way, hoping that'll be the start of losing that thing.
What is that thing?! he's thinking, echoing into the shared headspace.]
no subject
Luckily, for the both of them, Leo gets a grip on himself before that happens and it helps that the thought he hears that's not his own is certainly not Glen's either. The voice he hears is not one he's ever heard in his head before and that's simultaneously reassuring and really confusing. However, what might have been horrified screaming is promptly turned into angry yelling as Leo's temper flares at that.
WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!? LET ME GO! That thing is mine!
Poor Jabberwock who, although not deterred in the slightest, has to spread its wings and fly above the buildings to try and stay close. ]
no subject
yikes, this guy has a temper all of sudden, doesn't he? well, it's not like Jericho could blame him or wasn't expecting some kind of outburst...er, internal outburst. at least the guy wasn't yelling out loud and calling more attention to them...
I'm trying to get you to safety!
of course...safety is kind of hard to find. he skids to a halt, whipping his (well, his borrowed) gaze upward, catching sight of the Jabberwock swooping by, flying over again...dangit, it's just going to wait for them to creep out of the alley, isn't it? think, think...
time to climb. there's a window, he spies, and if he can just climb the couple feet he needs to grasp the sill...
almost...]
no subject
See if he ever stops to help someone else again if this is what he gets for it.
I'm perfectly safe! Aren't you listening!? That's my Chain, I control it!
If only he could call out to it to dismiss it, but alas. He's stuck in his own mind bristling while some kid uses his body to go climbing. His body isn't the most fit, it's what happens when you're a bookworm that sticks to hanging out in libraries, so there's no way he can see this ending well. Just great. ]
no subject
he lands heavily, nearly falling on Leo's rump, staggering to steady himself before backing against a wall at the sound of the monster soaring above once more. the fact Leo's body isn't instinctively freezing up or shuddering at something that scary is what gives Jericho pause to actually consider what Leo's saying – that it can possibly be more than just confused chatter.
What? That thing is yours?!
oh, no. did Jericho just bodyhop into a supervillain without realizing it?]
no subject
THAT'S WHAT I SAID! Just get out!
It's kind of a good thing he's stuck in his head where there's nothing to grab and fling at other people's heads because it's highly likely he would have gotten violent by now. Kid or not. ]
no subject
in a blink, Jericho himself is staggering away, dizzy for the moment it takes to go from a stranger's set of limbs to his own. lucky for him there's a wall to reach out and catch with his hands to stop himself. whewh!
but the sound of that monster flying overhead once more causes a start, whirling around, looking up, and...and back at this guy. this could be bad news; he better be careful!]
no subject
He forces himself to take a calming breath, there's no time to stand around here being furious, and with a gesture of his hand he dismisses Jabberwock. The giant creature shimmers out of existence as it returns back to the recess of Leo's mind. Keeping it out here would only draw unnecessary attention now. Especially so because it had been the cause of the chaos and an Initiative member's death a few weeks ago.
The calming breath helps. Somewhat. He's still looking really huffy and his voice is still raised, but at least it's not like the enraged yelling from before. ]
Are you trying to get yourself killed?
no subject
Jericho pulls a face, somewhere between bewilderment and...and, well, the sort of face someone makes when dealing with something a little on the side of ridiculous.
because come on! who's the guy running around with a giant monster in the middle of a fight! who's the superhero here?!
well, wait. he squints, head cocked in a tilt, nose crinkling with scrutiny. just what are you, huh? yeah, answer that? POINTS RIGHT BACK AT, ICON.]
no subject
Honestly, he has no idea what the boy is asking of him with that face, so he figures he should elaborate on his statement.
Which he does, but not before he lets out a sigh. ]
Jabberwock just saved you. I don't know what you were doing back there, but it's a good way to get yourself killed.
no subject
and, hey....hey. okay, so he's...young, but he's got powers!
not that many folks know about that.
okay.
okay, this guy's outrage is justified, but...hey! come on! Jericho holds up his hands in a show-and-tell, shrugged-shoulders kind of fashion: didn't you just see-- er, well, fall victim? to his powers? he's fairly capable!
except for the part where those soldiers aren't...possess-able...]
no subject
For a moment he can only stare hard at Jericho, trying to decipher just what the hell is going on.
But eventually he plainly gives up though, announcing as much in a very deadpan manner: ]
I have no idea what you're trying to say.
no subject
Jericho lifts his hands – okay, fine – and takes a step back, pushing them forward, as if pressing more distance between them. whatever weird...moment they just shared? it's done! and he's got people to take care of, since some don't have giant, horrifying monsters to watch their back.
so, excuse me!
he turns heal and starts out the alley toward the sounds of the attack.]
no subject
Yes. Yes, he is. He's walking right back in danger's direction. ]
Hey! [ Honestly, Leo doesn't have time for this. He has an orphanage to get to and protect so if this kid is so determined to get himself killed, who is Leo to stop him? Still, he has to head in the same direction so he can at least stomp after him and see what the boy's about to do. ]
no subject
tiny, yes, but not a complete pushover: Jericho intercepts one of those helmet-headed soldiers and manages to disarm him, trip him up, and get him close enough to his level that he can make a fair attempt at getting that mask off, trying in vain to hop in through the eyes.
he gives that up once a hand grabs at his wrist, obliging him to shake free and simply kick the guy down. Jericho backs away, doing a bit of a double-take at seeing Mister I-Have-Horrible-Monster-Pets back again.]
no subject
But whatever it was he was trying to do, it hasn't accomplished much and by the time he notices Leo again, Leo's wearing a thoroughly unimpressed expression. In the blink of an eye Jabberwock is back by his side and it steps forward, crushing the soldier on the ground underneath its claw where said soldier turns to rubble.
Leo doesn't notice that though, his eyes are still on the kid. ] You should evacuate with everyone else.
no subject
rubble?
Jericho shakes himself out of the fright that awful Jabberwock gave, coming out of nowhere like that, to kneel down and pick up one of the pieces that had scattered toward him.
well...that could explain his possession problems, huh? except he's possessed guys made of rock before...weird. he'll have to ask Raven. find her, actually; he can manage a little toe-to-toe himself, but he's not going to do a whole lot of good with that alone.
mouth taut, he glances up at Leo and nods, though still debating. is leaving this guy alone with a giant, scary monster all that good of an idea? is there really much time to wonder about that?
better find Raven or Robin and see what they'd have to say about it.
Jericho lets the rock drop out of his hand as he gets up, clapping his hands of it and giving the area a tentative lookabout before starting back.]
no subject
He gives a curt nod in return before he turns on his heel with a cry of: ] Jabberwock!
[ Leo doesn't have to communicate his intentions any more than that, the winged Chain reacts instantly as it starts striking down the soldiers nearby, leaving none standing to possibly pursue Jericho while Leo himself moves away in the direction of the orphanage. ]
