Location: a nonspecific beach along the coast
Characters: Feferi, Ahiru, and Oz
Summary: A field trip to see the beach! And how gross it is.

[ The beach! Even though it's not a very nice beach, Feferi looks excited to see it none the less, as it comes into sight several hundred yards ahead. It's not raining too hard over this way, a misty drizzle at best, but even if it were sunny, that wouldn't do much to improve the sight ahead of them. It's desolate, a coast that should be teeming with life seems barren and devoid, with discarded junk laying around where it shouldn't be, either left behind or washed up on shore. Some creatures run about the faded sands, bearing only some resemblance to their non-mutated ancestors.

She turns to her new friends, and points it out up ahead, as if they couldn't see it with their own two eyes. ]

Look! There it is, we are almost there!

[She's tried not to get her hopes up; from the way Feferi described it, the beach hardly sounded like a paradise. Still, it's a little surprising just how dreary the place once they're about to enter it. Of course, not wanting to trouble the other girl or Oz, she smiles with enthusiasm.]

Wow, it looks really interesting!

[velveteened]

( it's - more like something he would expect to see described in a horror novel than his mental image of an ordinary beach, but it's sandy and there is an ocean, mighty and roaring, and who's to say horror can't be fun? so there's nothing forced when he says, matching feferi's enthusiasm, )

Wow! Just look at it!

[fintastic]

[ As soon as they reach the sand, Feferi takes off her shoes and lets her toes sink into the wet sand, though with some of the debris laying around, it might not be the smartest idea. As a result, she walks a little delicately, rather than bounding onto the shore like she really wants to. ]

Come on, maybe we can find something cool!

[motioned]

[She notes Feferi taking off her shoes and almost starts to do the same before realizing - no, that's probably not such a good idea for her. There's a fear about being here, exploring where it very well could be dangerous, but there's a bit of excitement lingering as well. Despite how awful it looks, it's still a beach, with the sand and the water lapping against the ground. She can't really help but happy, though she's wary at the same time.

So, she's following quickly after Feferi, scanning over the ground.]

Have you ever found anything before?

[velveteened]

( his own boots stay safely on, but he follows feferi eagerly enough. he treads carefully just the same, though, worried about stepping on a - crab or a fish or whatever it is that lives on beaches! though a creature hardy enough to live on a beach like this may be able to break a shoe, instead of the other way around... )

It's a beach! Of course there's something cool here.

( THERE MUST BE. )

I haven't found anything yet, but I think it's about time to change that! Let's go check out those rocks!

[ She sets off towards an outcropping of rocks nearer to the shore that look like a prime location to find some tide pools. ]

[motioned]

[She follows after Feferi, looking around the rocks until she spies one such tide pool. She takes a few steps towards it, then, but stops abruptly before she gets a closer look.]

Um... It's okay to go up to it, right? I-I mean, nothing's going to jump out at me?

[velveteened]

( oz walks past ahiru to approach the pool, the very picture of nonchalance. )

Weeeell, you never know!

( not that that seems to be stopping him. )

[fintastic]

There's only one way to find out!

[ Feferi pushes past as well, kneeling next to the pool to peer in and finds...

Barnacles! Boring. She frowns, looking a little disappointed. ]

[motioned]

D-Don't act like it wouldn't be a problem if there were something dangerous, you guys!

[She stands where she is, letting the other two pass her by as she keeps a safe distance from the pool. When she sees Feferi frown, though, she grows even more concerned.]

What is it? What's there?

[velveteened]

( he kneels near feferi to get a good look, though he's less disappointed by the barnacles than she is. in fact, he reaches out a hand as though he's seriously considering giving one a poke, but stops just short of the water. )

I don't know.

[fintastic]

[ Don't think she doesn't notice that! ]

There's nothing. Go ahead, you can touch it! It won't do anything.

[ At least she doesn't think it will. ]

[motioned]

[Cautiously, she approaches the pool as well, standing behind Oz and peeking over his shoulder. She calms when she sees what it is, though; at the very least, it doesn't look very harmful. Or like a living creature, even.]

Is that some kind of a plant?
