Date & Time: March 31st, around lunchtime.
Location: a diner place
Characters: Keith
silenceandcards and Oz
velveteened
Summary: Keith runs into Oz and decides in a dreary war-ridden place, a kid needs to be taken out to lunch on Easter, even if you're supposed to be a scary gangster.
Warnings: None... probably.
He was used to being around "kids" anyway. The scissor-wielding man in New York was far from being as small as Oz, but the two of them acted similarly enough that Keith did not have much trouble approaching him today upon spotting him in town. Keith had no way of knowing the exact date of Easter in the thirty-first century, but the date was close enough and as far as he was concerned, it was a Sunday, there was nothing to do, and a kid had been stuck in dreary gloom-land for a few months, Keith liked him well enough, and the kid could use a break.
Those were enough reasons for Keith to approach Oz Vessalius, ask him (in very few words) how he was doing, then after a moment's silence, ask if he was hungry and wanted to eat lunch, he'll pay for it. There's a diner nearby that Keith could afford, anyway, even if Oz turned out to have a stomach the size of a whale's.

a distraction is very much appreciated.
he has a smile hitched on, bright, head cocked slightly as he looks up at keith as they walk. )
It's nice of you to offer!

He looks down at Oz's bright smile and nods once. He agrees. It is a "nice" thing to do and he's not sure how he feels about it. He wouldn't have dared to do anything more than throw a dollar at a sad-looking kid to make him go buy some bread or something. It came with the job, really. But there's no danger of that here, and it's not unpleasant to be walking next to Oz to feed him lunch. He's just not sure if his personality really fits it.]
... No problem.

( he's...ended up eating out a lot, what with his own utter inability to cook anything (without it coming out disastrously, anyway), but this particular diner isn't one he's visited before. not that he's particularly concerned with its quality; there's sure to be something tasty. good food hasn't really been that hard to find in his opinion, though whether it's a reflection of the cooks' ability or the comparison against his own failures is hard to say. )

[Keith ate out a fair amount of times. Back in New York he would go home to eat Kate's cooking whenever he could, but there were a number of times when he and his brothers would end up eating together -- lots of Chinese, he remembers. The diner he takes Oz to is one he's been to the most frequently, and he's no expert on food but he's fairly certain Oz wouldn't dislike it.
He'll open the door for him.]

( to the opened door, and he'll go ahead inside. walking inside anywhere is somewhat of a relief in exsilium; anything out of the rain and wind seems incredibly warm and dry by comparison. )
Ah, so you mean you're a regular.
( which is pushing "a few times" and he knows it )

[Only a few, kid. It's not that he was hurting for money, living alone, but he wasn't loaded either. He closes the door behind them and nods to a waitress who'll lead them to a booth where he'll wait, letting Oz choose to sit on whichever side of the table he wants.]
