He sniffs the ground carefully, head lifting to look up at the sky, try to find stars he can recognize. No such thing; be it the passage of time or the geography has changed their place or simply made constellations unrecognizable. There wasn't much point in using them to guide him anyway - the way to the Outlands and back shouldn't be too hard when he's got several senses to lead the way.
So he makes use of them, padding and occasionally running, always careful not to stir too much attention, good or bad. Wouldn't want anyone using his or her weapon against him just because he gave them an accidental fright, would we...

He's trying to retrace his steps back home now, having made his way to the outskirts of the city. Fortunately, his Initiate-weapon is a flashlight and he powers it himself, so he's not tripping over debris, trash cans or other people. Yet.
He thinks he sees something in the shadows and is frankly, pretty freaked out.
"Wh-who's there?"

Peter couldn't really answer if he wanted to. All he can do is stare, frozen, uncertain of what the stranger will do in the presence of a giant wolf.

Well, his mother never said he was the brightest crayon in the box.
"Nice doggy... um... wolfy? Are you okay? I thought I heard you clattering over there, I hope you didn't hurt your paws."
It's not that he's not smart enough to be nervous. He is. It's not good to be a tiny person in the presence of a large predator. He swallows audibly, but smiles. "You're... really big." Oops that sounded kind of like an insult. "But your fur is quite pretty!"

He lifts one paw, slowly, head ducking with it. Should he leave? Can he leave?

Being from a culture somewhat alien to Earth, he's never understood the idea of not simply asking for help like directions when needed.

Peter turns his head away, standing tall on his legs, returning his focus for a moment before he starts to make his way back, inviting Mahdi to follow him in the silence.

His voice is actually rather pleasant, though the melody is unstructured it never seems out of tune.

Of course it never occurs to him he could be getting into a worse situation by trusting a stranger. That's the kind of person he is - always willing to trust whoever comes along has the best intentions. It seems to be working out, as he's almost sure he recognizes some of the landmarks looming in the dark.
"I sure hope you can tell where we are with your super-wolfy vision, because I'm still confused..." He shines the flashlight on one of the buildings and frowns when he doesn't find it as familiar as he hoped.

He'd like to talk back, learn more about this person he's helping out. Not to ask for anything in return, but it would make a nice distraction for the seemingly endless path of darkness ahead of them.

"I wonder if you know my friend Collette. She can be wolfy too, sometimes." Mahdi chats quietly to fill up the dark space between. "I bet she can wag her tail or howl or whatever with the best of them. Me, on the other hand, well... I barely speak human so good." He continues to search out landmarks. If anything, this little adventure is teaching him all about how little he knows this city, in spite of his months here.
