Location: All around Exsilium.
Characters: Everyone!
Summary: The United Earth decides Exsilium had obviously not learned its lesson back in October, and does another round of humble-making bombing for those impertinent exiles. OOC info can be found here.
Warnings: Violence, death, general gloom and doom.

The warning had gone out approximately two hours before the bombing began, broadcast to any available receptor on the island: UE aggressions incoming, bombs expected; please proceed to Catacombs immediately. It repeats over and over, right up until the first bomb, aimed at the Hold itself, silences the signal.

The air is thick with smoke and worse. Every one to two hours another bomb shakes the island. Buildings crumble and shatter, but the focus is on the Hold and the native hospital. Initiative employees, some sick as anyone else, are steadfast in their escorting natives and transports alike into the underground catacombs. For two days the bombs continue ceaselessly, dropped by their cloaked and invisible carriers overhead.

The United Earth is nothing if not thorough.

[ Damp and severely lacking in medical facilities is quite a drawback (especially for one who's fairly used to a high standard of technology) but that doesn't stop Shion from well, not-so-conspicuously trying to help out. If you're coughing or visibly injured, expect her to drop in with a casual: ]

[ Night time's hard to discern when you're underground, isn't it? Shion's wandered off into the less populated areas (read: where the sick patients aren't around as much) to smoke. She's trying not to make that much of a fuss about it, and she's trying to keep as much out of the way as she can.

[Yuri's hiding out of the way for now, tired and feeling kind of useless. Maybe getting a little shut eye wouldn't be a bad idea, but the smell of something unfamiliar to him makes it a bit difficult. Opening his eyes, he spots the woman smoking and just lazily smirks. He can't blame her if that's her way of getting a bit of a release around here.]

You come here for peace and quiet too?

More for the peace than the quiet.

[ It's hard not to notice the explosions topside, even if they're well-in, granted. For one, the entire place still shakes with every explosion. ]

But I take what I can get.

Guess it's not the most quiet, but it's always a plus to get away.

[Which is how Yuri feels right now. It's kind of exhausting being around so many people sometimes, but hey, not much a guy can do when this is the only safe haven.

After a moment of awkward silence from him, he studies her clothing, an ah--]

You a doctor or something?

Got my license and all. Haven't been able to use it here.

[ And she returns the favour, studying him in the poor light. ]

Why, are you looking for one?

Dunno, maybe.

[He shrugs. Honestly he was just commenting on her getup, but nothing more than that.]

Wouldn't hurt to know someone who's versed in medicine, I s'pose, at least not in this place.

[Now, if she were a healer that'd be even better, but whatever.]

[Eventually she'll come across a rather frantic looking young man, too clumsy for his own good, too pale and flushed to be completely healthy. But he's not concerned about himself at the moment; there's someone else who needs medical attention far worse than he himself does.]

Sorry, are - you're a doctor?

More or less. Something I can help you with?

[ lacking 99% of the tools currently, but that's besides the point. She takes a step closer. ]

You— don't look too hot.

['More or less' is better than 'no, I'm not'. He'll take whatever he can get right now.]

I'm fine, but he needs help. He can't see.

[The words come out so hurried that they practically blend into each other.]

Slow down-- slow down, I'm listening. Who're we talking about here? What happened to them?

[He takes a breath, but it's too shallow to really help.]

He was in the explosion at the hospital, and now he can't see anything.

[Several others have complained of the same ailment in the bombings so far, but Gilbert hasn't overheard any of them. His focus has only been on Oz.]

[ She's silent for a moment. And then, she straightens, shoves her hand into a pocket and nods. ]

Okay, I'll try my best to help. Take me to him-- and tell me more about what happened. [ grimace ] I wasn't exactly anywhere near the hospital then.

[ Well, as soon as he's finished coughing here, he'll answer. That takes a few more seconds, then: ]

Well, you know. [ And here's a wheezy intake of breath to accompany his shrug. ] Feeling like I might go out on a run once I finish coughing this lung up.

[ Them's fighting words, mysterious redheaded boy. She manages a snort of disbelief. ]

Need some buildup to cough up the other one?

Of course. What would I do with only one lung out here? I may as well go for the matching set.

Yeah? Sounds like you got a stunning plan about how to go about it already.

[Wry as you may, as she leans on the nearest wall.]

Unless I'm allergic to bombings. [ But enough kidding around. ] Yeah. I held out for longer than I expected, but--

[ Hang on. He turns away, to cough into his sleeve. ]

...ugh... but keeping an eye on people in a hospital kind of made this inevitable.

It's an airborne bug anyway. It would've just been a matter of time, hospital or not.

[He looked up in surprise, not expecting too many people to bother him since he'd been trying to make himself as small as possible out of the way. The question just has him shaking his head.]

I don't feel good.

You don't look too good.

[ She shakes her head.The lighting's terrible,and she stoops so that she's at eye level and not— casting a shadow over him. ]

Anything I can help with?

[Well at least she was less difficult to look at that way, with her on his level.] I dunno. Are you one of those doctor people?

I was, back home.

[ and that's as much as she is. she hasn't affilitated herself to any of the med centres in Exsilium yet. ]

Surely that counts.

[His expression immediately sours.] You better not stick me with those pointy things again. [Shots, as Link has recently discovered, are most unpleasant.]
