[ oh my god is he actually doing it. Onyx brightens visibly when he takes out the gold, and she's reaching for the pouch almost before he's let go of it. But then comes the sapphire broach as well, and she decides that yes. This guy will do. He'll do very nicely, actually.

Her smile actually looks a little fond as she slips the broach into the pouch and tucks both of them away. She'll investigate them better later, on her own. ]

That's an excellent start to currying favor with a dragon. [ She can't be too grateful, else he realize that... he's basically the only one to actually give into her kind of unreasonable demands. ] I won't keep you if you'd like to go, but I might be inclined to consider it if you ever need a favor.

[Perhaps actually seeing a nice smile was worth it. He has a suspicion about this one, but of course its every bit rude to presume. She did take the time to speak to him, and her words have grown kinder.

He just needs to remember not to turn into a yes man. Maybe he can keep on top of that. He inclines his head when she mentions considering a favor if he needs it. It was a start, a pretty good one, he just had to keep the momentum going some how.]

You honor me, Adlige. [The new word he speaks with another slight incline of his head. He is considering more, but of course how to phrase it? He may have to retreat and strike up another conversation with her another day.]

[ Any time, really. It's not like she has a job, or anything to occupy her time, outside of various lessons in magic from various Transports. But she cocks her head like she's considering it, because of course her time is precious. ]

[ and now she's imagining bodies being inserted into machines … that's not a good image. and she makes a face: eyebrows pinched, nose even so. ]

[ Thanks for the vivid reminder of doing just that, actually. She loses focus for a moment, remembering the rage and violence that had gone with that particular day, and looks a mix of pissed and nostalgic.

Seriously? [ she's only familiar with nathan, who has to die before he's brought back. so if her eyes are almost bugging out of her head, well, they are. ] You can die one minute and be back the next?

It took them at least half an hour, last time I experienced it.

[ death is such a touchy subject. it surrounds them all, back at wertham, dictating their every move, even if they don't realise it. alisha doesn't want to die. not at home, not here, even if she can come back to life in this place. ]

My mate - He can die and come back. Sort of within an instant, I guess. Figured that maybe that was the case here, that you die, and in a few minutes, you're back to who you were before.

[ Her eyes narrow, and she seems to entirely ignore that second part. ]

I didn't have to die. Once you realize it's no more than a strategy, you use it like one. So I did.

[ alisha frowns. death, for her, is not a strategic advantage, but a devastatingly personal loss. ] What could you possibly gain from dying?
