(no subject)
Date & Time: BACKDATED to August 30th
Location: The library
Characters: Sango (
taijiya) and Chrono (
overclocking)
Summary: Some friendly bartering for reading lessons
Warnings: Nothin'
[For some people, if they're an undercover demon and they meet someone who promptly tells them that they're a demon slayer by trade, the obvious course of action would be to bid that person goodbye and slink away slowly.
When you're Chrono, you end up offering to teach said demon slayer how to read, on the promise of a batch of fresh-baked cookies. He has very little experience actually teaching, of course, but it can't be harder than tutoring Rosette through her algebra lessons.
It's how he finds himself waiting at a table in the library, pad of paper and a pen in front of him, as well as a small stack of books. He's taken care to sort through what children's books he could find, and though the selection isn't as good as a library back home might be, it will suit their purposes.]

She's already getting some foundation from Kang--who is another nonhuman who offered to teach her to read, imagine that--but it's hard to make schedules coincide sometimes. So Sango is arriving in the library with a neat box full of cookies, entering an establishment of this kind for the first time and nearly dropping the food when she's met with walls upon walls of books.
She's pretty sure that there are more books in this place than anyone she'd ever met at home, barring Kagome, had seen in their lives combined.
Sango finds Chrono momentarily, eyes still wandering.]
I've never been here before... I didn't realize there were so many.

I guess it make sense that you wouldn't have spent a lot of time in libraries... with any luck you'll learn to love it, though. It can be a really peaceful place.
[Manners sliding into place after pleasantries, he reaches over to pull out the chair next to his at the table.]

[She slides into the chair and sets the box down.]
Hopefully you're right. If I can find the time for it, that is.
[Training with her handful of partners and students keeps her very busy, as do the errands she finds herself running and the few outings with acquaintances and friends she can be convinced to attend.]

Are you often that busy? [It occurs to him that he hasn't asked—well, much of anything, really. He knows training occupies many people's days, but...]

[She shrugs. At least when you're busy you don't have as much time to be homesick or angsty, right?
But she did notice that glance of his, and lifts the lid off the box to reveal a neat two dozen cookies of the same type from the welcome tent.]
Anyway, as promised.
