Date: January 1st 8th
Location: The Transporter building.
Characters: Everyone.
Summary: New Transports arrive and are shuffled through their initial briefings. Then... out into the cold?
Warnings: None.
Your arrival here has been very unceremonious. One second you were somewhere else, and now, very suddenly, your feet hit the glowing white of the Transporter pad, and you're here. You aren't alone, either. There's a crowd of others around you, each seeming just as bewildered, angry, or confused as you might feel. At the head of the group is a woman in purple robes, solemn and taciturn. She hurries over a quick overview of your intended purpose here, and gives direct answers when asked for them, but to most things she simply shows you how to access the tablet you've just been given, or tells you that the DITR's greeters will explain everything. On the tablet, you can find the history of this place and a record of what your new cohorts have experienced. You're guided through the armory and given a weapon, and though the armory is now greatly reduced, you should be able to find something to suit you.
You're currently in a large multi-roomed warehouse, graciously granted by the cagey and suspicious remains of the organization known as the Initiative. They don't know you or trust you, but they've given you leave to set up camp in one of the warmer corners of this building until you find a place of your own. And if you want to leave right now, step into the driving winter winds and never look back? Well, friend, you can be their guest.
Outside you'll find the wintery village of Exsilium, with most of its buildings permanently buried in snow and ice. There are tunnels underground to connect neighbor to neighbor to marketplace, and most of the people here use them, but you'll still see people braving the above ground weather here and there for a more direct route. They hardly glance at you, should you venture out among them — unless you don't look human. That hologram emitter the greeter pressed upon anyone non-human on arrival? Yeah, consider that very important to maintain good relations of any kind.
Welcome to the current reality of Exsilium.

Scott? [ her voice is soft and his name is more breathed out than anything. even if he had heard her, she's already jogging towards him as quick as she can while still minding the ice. ]
Scott! Turn around!
no subject
Scott knows it's more complicated than that now, but this whole thing is a bit bigger than werewolves attacking Beacon Hills. It's even bigger than what they did that night to save their parents. His few additional minutes prior to hearing Allison's voice granted him that clarity.
Of course, there's also the part that was dominant before. The part that told him that he wouldn't be alone. That's the scary part. Neither of them should be here. This whole really scary and weird experience can tell him that much. Because beyond that sudden togetherness, there are the same protective instincts. Those same thoughts will undoubtedly come up again, but they're not winning at the moment.
But still, he turns around, an easy smile coming to his lips—or as easy as smiles are for Scott these days, things have changed—and he trots toward her to close the distance, less mindful of the ice, but he's keeping his footing all right. He does feel the slickness beneath his shoes, but Allison holds his focus.] Hey.
It got a little cold, huh?
no subject
she stops in front of him, looking far more prepared for the weather than he does and much more like the native crowd, unlike the wave of new transports that stick out like a giant sore thumb. ]
You're back. [ she doesn't suspect that he may not remember, or rather doesn't want to suspect it despite knowing that it can easily happen. she clings to his words because its far easier to think that he's simply remembering the time when exsilium wasn't a completely frozen landscape - and gives him a smile, unabashed for once, even if it is still a little withdrawn. truth be told, she is just happy to see him again. ]
How long ago did you get here?
no subject
Rather than the more obvious one. Scott doesn't even consider the most obvious one because, simply put, it'd be the most confusing.]
But I didn't see you in there when I got in. [He's processing that, brows knit.] What does that mean?
no subject
[ involuntarily, of course, but that was the nature of a lot of the things that happened around here. everything they did felt reactionary to an extent. but now wasn't the time to dwell on the nature of exsilium and the united earth. she keeps her eyes on scott, searching for any kind of recognition in his face at what she's saying. when she fails to find it, her expression drifts towards a more serious one. ]
What's the last thing you remember?
no subject
We saved our parents. ... We stopped Deucalion, and the darach. Things are better now ... they're settling. [Settling, because he still has his friends. He still has his mom. They all have their parental figures, and that's what's important.
But of course, he has an obligatory follow-up question:] Why do you ask?
no subject
the hope in his voice is promising at least and if things improving is the last thing he remembers, then at least she doesn't have to worry about not knowing if anything had gotten worse since she'd been here. ]
Um. [ the pause is automatic as she tries to figure out the most efficient way of phrasing it. scott deserves honesty, there's no question about that. ] Well, those are all the last things I remember too.
Only, I've been here about six months now. [ beat. ] Well, a little less than that if we're talking about saving our parents specifically. I came before that, went back, and then returned again.
no subject
Even without those things, he would have believed her anyway, but now it's beyond a reasonable doubt.]
Uh—wow. [There's a start. Because there's a lot to grasp here.] And here I thought all the stuff going on back home was complicated. This is—this is something.
[Scott slips into thought, just for a moment longer.]
Time travel. That's what they told me they do here. That's got something to do with all this, right? [Unlike Stiles, who Scott figures would have a lot of different theories already ready at his disposal, Scott's going with it from the direction he knows best, which isn't as wildly ridden with pop culture references to answer him at a time like this.] Because you were—[He puts a hand out, just to motion where she is kind of, only somewhat more distant.]—Right there. Not like, right there, right there, but you were there. Not here. [That's him processing it out loud. He's got it.]
Is it bad that I'd almost take everything that's happened over this? For any of us. [The almost is very, very important.]
no subject
he hand twitches, just barely, as the urge to reach out and take his hand as she once would've strikes her. she manages to keep it in check because she knows that complicating any feelings between them would just create an even bigger mess. ]
The initiative deals a lot with time travel. Not so much these days, but they've got this technology that can send someone forwards or backwards. And to pick people out at specific moments... and return them too, if they're feeling generous or there's a glitch.
[ allison pauses, waiting to see scott's reaction to it all. at his last comment, she cracks a smile because of course, scott would just want what's best for everyone he knew. ( even if it was just the lesser of two evils ). ]
No, it's not bad at all. At least everything back home was sort of familiar territory.
no subject
I guess this is gonna have to become familiar. Until we go back. [There's a beat.] Until we all go back. I don't want to leave without you again. [There's a lot of earnest force behind those words. Even if he'll probably always be in love with Allison, this has more to it. Scott really hates that he's left them before.]
no subject
[ she knows scott's well-meaning to a fault and this time, at least, she wants him to know that there wasn't anything they could've done. sure she'd been torn right after she'd found out that he'd disappeared, but she'd learned to find a certain comfort in the fact that at least he'd returned home. she'd just have to wait it out until it was possible for her to do so as well, although certainly not without helping those in exsilium first. ]
They picked a good time to bring you back, at least.
no subject
["A good time" seems to translate to "something bad could potentially be happening," at least in their experience. Something that he's needed for, at any rate.]
no subject
[ she sounds weirdly relieved given her tone. ]
Just up until last month everyone had been evacuated to the moon. [ which didn't exactly have the best of effects on the werewolves here ]

[ the initiative was bound to have a crash course in all things related to it and exsilium at this point. and whatever they missed, allison would gladly fill him in about. ]

so she settles for nodding and giving him a semi-smile. ]
You've got me. [ beat ] And Isaac and Lydia and everyone else here.
