Yep. She may have to put it to a vote, but she was fairly sure this was the cutest story she'd ever heard. Her arms shifted over his slightly, when he tightened his grip slightly as he talked. Briefly raising a hand to rub it over her eyes, she heaved a soft sigh, her breathing having calmed, leaving her just -- tired.
And Natsu was ... really comfortable. Especially like this. Fortunately that stray thought moved along before she could process it and be sufficiently mortified, quietly listening to the sound of her friend's voice. There was something soothing about it, or maybe now that she worst of her tears had worked their way through, her body was acknowledging how tired she was.
When the story finally came to an end, Lucy smiled slightly, fleetingly. "... that was a nice story." She sighed softly. Oh, is your throat getting dry and needing water? Sorry, Lucy didn't seem to notice - in fact, she was starting to doze off, though she was /trying/ to keep her eyes open. One doesn't fall asleep in their friend's arms like this!
"Natsu..." she ventured after a few minutes of more quiet, though her voice was a mix of grief and exhaustion, quiet. "... promise me..." Absently her hand shifted to find his, to slide around and curl her fingers through his, tightly. GAH! no stay awake Lucy. "... promise me you won't lie to me again." It hurt badly enough that her father was gone. It made it ten times worse that her friend lied about it.
. . . better say something before she falls sleep and you're stuck drinkless.
