Bariyan could call again -- not that he realizes what he is doing -- but the boy's parting words set him at ease. There was a promise there, a promise to return. So Bariyan merely blinks off into the distance sadly, as the last vestiges of Martin's light fade away. The chain around his neck strangely heavy and cold.
