"Each wand has one of three possible cores," Hermione explained. Naturally she learned a lot about wandlore after learning about the Deathly Hallows. "Phoenix feather, unicorn hair and dragon heartstring. They say that the wand chooses the wizard. I'm not sure why this wand chose me, but I do know it's served me well for years.
