"I'm still not really used to being here..." Time travel was a familiar enough concept to him, but not going into the future. Going into the past? Yes, but not the future, and especially not this far into the future, which was something that would exist over his dead body. No way in hell would he save the world from the apocalypse only to let most of the human race kill each other off with a giant war.
