Nill pauses slightly, glancing away from Kate. To do what? Just what was she hoping to accomplish? Kate was right to ask, because for the briefest moment, Nill isn't sure that she has an answer.

It doesn't take her long to think of one, though. Even if she'd just been looking for something to do, it hadn't been without purpose - it had just taken her a moment to properly realize it.

I want to understand this world better. If I can do that, maybe it will make it easier to leave.

While she isn't sure just how true that is, she's sure knowing the world outside of this city will give her a better idea of what to expect in the future, and what this place is or isn't capable of. The people running this place aren't all powerful, and seeing what's out there might give her a better idea of their limits.
