Entry tags:
Open: The great outdoors (and then cake or death)
Date & Time: Today, or within a few days before or after. It's a long hike, so dates are flexible to suit you character's needs
Location: Way out past the recommended areas for exploring, whoops.
Characters: OPEN! (Plus most likely:
oldsoldiersneverdie,
rota,
ringbeast,
boundbyheart, and of course
inthejunk)
Summary:Yosuke is out searching the great wilds for a very important -okay only in his mind- gift. Anyone who might be crazy enough to be out there or knows him well enough to be conned into coming along jump on in.
Tagging around and thread jacking and general mayhem are all fine by me.
Warnings: There's a distinct possibility your character could get sick. I'll do an ooc post in a bit to explain the symptoms and such, but don't worry. Illness is totally optional!
Otherwise just expect cursing and fail and dumb teenage stuff, plus whatever you guys bring to the table with your characters.
It's a rainy day as usual, and frankly this far into the hike Yosuke is tired, sore, dirty and cranky. But he's not ready to throw in the towel just yet. He's definitely not planning to come back and try again later, after all. Whatever he finds here will have to do. Because after this much effort he's dreaming of a hot shower and a hot meal and a nap that lasts about two days.
Still, it's proven one thing to come this far. The world is completely and irreversibly screwed up now. A fact that hasn't helped his mood all that much. Nor the silence. Even at a brisk hiking pace, he'd prefer some banter. The charge on his micro pad has to be saved in case of some kind of emergency, -not that he's within range anyway, but still- so he can't even listen to music. Ugh.

Soon, though, the smell of a human caught her nose. What would someone be doing out here? Nothing out here was good for them, nor was there some kind of item a regular person would need. So she swooped down, just above the tree line, to investigate.

He spots the bright bush of hair below him immediately, and swoops down, landing some distance away from Yosuke and turning off his Beast driver and untransforming. "Oh, hey!" he says, running up, his pack on his back. "You camping out, too?"
no subject
"Uh. Yeah, sort of. I didn't think most people came out this far. Jeez."

He shrugs and waves. "I'm Nitoh, Kousuke Nitoh? Who're you?"

Having poked through most of the near-by ruins, he's been venturing farther out, recommendations be damned. Not usual that he sees someone else out here, though.
"Hey."
no subject
"Yo."
assuming he indeed dragged her out yep yep
"And how long are we going to keep this up, senpai?" That senpai sounds more like 'asshole' if you stop to read between the lines. If she'd been anyone else, it'd definitely be 'asshole' instead of something else, but nope.
Naoto's still polite. Though she's very close to not being polite anymore.

After a moment if wide-eyed staring at the unexpected stranger who'd appeared, Yosuke attempted to return her greeting.
"What the...I mean-uh. Hey?"
no subject
"Uh. Hey."
works for me!

He raises his eyebrow. "You gotta chill out, man. You hungry or something?" He levers his backpack off his back and pokes through it. "I guess I got some rice balls... Or if you want some juice." He stands up and offers a rice ball to Yosuke with one hand while simultaneously pouring mayo all over one of the ones still in his lunch box.

That's a surprise. As far as Yosuke can tell, there's no good reason to. For a place that gets so much rain, the landscape isn't lush and beautiful at all. It's sickly and scarred.

Yeah, alright. That's a little better.
no subject
"So what're you out here for, huh?" He offers him a can of juice.

"Senpai, have you ever considered that 'it' is not here at all? What good would it do anyone to leave such an important thing out here where almost no one passes by?"
She's slowly getting more and more frustrated, because on the list of stupid things that he's done, this is probably topping it.

"Uh, I'm looking for something."

Yosuke finds a rock then and sits down, exhausted. It's true that they should have found it by now if they were going to. But after putting so much work into it, it's difficult to leave without it.

"Might be that the soil's no good, any more. Or nobody has the time to tend one. Weather wouldn't help, but there are plants that like lots of rain and not much sun."

"Maybe it's best if we leave together. This is a fool's errand, senpai."
no subject
But his tone is softer already. It's probably unfair to drag Naoto through all of this, when as far as he's aware it has nothing to do with her. He just hasn't wanted to go alone.

It's nothing he's ever heard of, anyway. Probably from some other world. But anything with the word 'sea' in it is clearly a port city, right?
no subject
Nate shakes his head. "Coast city, in the northwestern US. They get a lot of rain there too - though summers are usually nice. Not sure about here, though."

Nate nods. "Well, we're in what's left of the UK so... about the same climate, really. More trees in the Pacific Northwest, though I don't know if that's true here."
