Kaworu watched him speak in silence, his eyes taking in his posture and gestures and hesitation. As the changes in him become apparent and sink in, his gaze softens into sympathy. Kaworu looks down at the floor thoughtfully when Billy pauses in his explanation.

"The harshness of adult life dampens youthful positivity," he says. "But that's not what you're talking about. You weren't just growing up for a year, were you. You were doing more of what caused you strife before."
