I know that. It's not deep enough for it to be a real problem.

[but he's not going to fight to hang on to that needle. Trying to stitch yourself up when you've got bad motor control in one hand is hard]

[There's a reason she could never be an actual medical professional and it's because she has the worst bedside manner.

Still, she's got steady hands and she's good at this, stitching up the wound neatly and quickly. As soon as the stitching is done, she applies antiseptic over the wound, then covers it all with a bandage.]

There, good as new.

[He's met a few pretty brusque doctors, okay. But when she's done and he's not concentrating on keeping the pain from getting him too much, he gives her a small smile]

Few more days at least before I'd say that. But thanks.

No problem. You want any painkillers?

[She figured that he didn't give himself a local anaesthetic and it didn't even register as a weird thing (Bats) but now the wound is stitched up she can give him ibuprofen or something.]

[In his defense, he's learned a few mental tricks for coping with pain over the years - but no, he didn't bother with anesthetic. He shakes his head, though.]

Took some before I started - they should kick in pretty soon. You okay?

[He did in fact take a nice hefty dose of ibuprofen before starting, mostly because right now it hurts to breathe. And if she needs any injuries cleaned up, he's happy to return the favor]

Good thinking. [She took a couple as soon as she got a chance, to ease the aches and bruises, but at his question she shrugs.] Fine, my suit took most of the damage.

[She holds out her arm, where her shirt is ripped to reveal the kevlar underneath, since she's kind of stopped caring about the secret ID thing with this group.]

Think my shoulder popped out at some point, but I got it back in.

[nbd, her shoulder just does that sometimes.]

[Yeah he knows how that goes. One of his does that too sometimes. He's more interested in the suit, anyway.]

What's that made of, anyway? I was unlucky enough to get grabbed with none of my combat gear.

[This is the sort of question Bruce would tell her not to answer (Babs probably would, too) but she's starting to figure she can trust Nate.]

It's a kevlar/nomex blend, as well as... whatever it's evolving into. [Which is still weird, even if she's glad for her decision to weaponize her suit.] It takes a lot more damage without any loss in flexibility, so I can't complain.

Huh. Sounds pretty handy. I usually settled for at least part Kevlar when I was doing the picking.

[He gives the coat he took off and hasn't bothered cleaning yet a somewhat rueful look]

...Little short in the armory department right now, though.

You generally can't go wrong with kevlar.

[Unless you're fighting like, Darkseid, then kevlar might as well be silk.]

I'm planning to see if I can pick up some more materials for body armor on the next mission, I can grab you some, too, if you want?

[He blinks, a little surprised by the offer] If it's not a problem. I've only been on one Initiative mission so far, and I was a little more focused on finding some real coffee.

Not at all. I went shopping in Baltimore and picked up a few essentials, so I figure it can't hurt to try again. [She boughts boots and vibrators, it was a good haul.]

I got... well, mostly a lot of coffee. [He looks a little sheepish] Wasn't really thinking ahead, there.

I dunno, coffee is pretty important. And I did go the aquarium, too, so I can't exactly judge.

[He's used to people trying to faze him regularly, because Domino is an insane, cruel, wonderful person. Steph would probably like her immensely.]

Yeah, I know, I just... should have thought further ahead.

What time periods do they usually send us to?

It's easy to get caught up in all the mission bullshit.

[Trying to make him feel a little bit better about having not thought farther ahead than "coffee", because sometimes she can be nice.]

It's a bit all over the place. So far I've been to Frontier America, the nineties, and... the mid 28th Century, I think.
