No immediate response makes her go still. He doesn't go on the offensive. Even reading his body posture isn't immediately threatening, though it is intimidating. He's a wolf in prime, and larger than anything else she knows.
Thought Speak, limited as it is in one direction, doesn't give her insight, but her brain and the coyote's instinctual responses do. This might be more like the wolf running with the little girl, or it might be more similar to a shape-shifter, or even more simply an intelligent animal in its own right.

Collette slowly, deliberately, lowers her front into a play posture, ears perking forward and tongue lolling out, hiding as much of her teeth as she can. She doesn't make direct eye contact, focusing instead on the wolf's shoulder.
