It's true that Peter wasn't entirely sure what he'd find by visiting the Outlands. All he had were his senses and the desire to find something small and unaware that he could hunt, hopefully even eat, and the blackout had been the perfect opportunity to sneak out of the city unseen. That's what he thought, anyway - the several encounters he had along the way certainly proved him wrong.
He had arrived to his intended destination now, however, and told himself he could relax and run freely. The sound of the creature flying about him was easily picked up, even in the darkness, bringing him to stop and wonder as it descended, hoping it wasn't doing so with the same intentions Peter had when he saw an animal smaller than him.
