[closed] In restless dreams I walked alone
Date & Time: Morning of May 14th
Location: Ruins on the edge of the city
Characters: Nathan Summers and Soldier Blue
Summary: Nate is avoiding people out in the ruins, and has an unexpected encounter
Warnings: PG-13 for horrible pasts and the occasional swear
Getting out away from people is more of a relief than Nate expected it to be. He knows that's a bad sign, really - means his shields aren't holding well enough under the strain of having his psi powers back, with no time to retrain himself before he got thrust into this mess and has had to pull on them to stay alive. He's not really sure he can afford the days of solitude he needs to build his mental defenses back up again right now, though, so just getting away from people will have to do for the moment.
The work helps, too, really. His ribs are still sore as hell, but the rest of the bruises and scrapes are mostly healed, and digging into the guts of things lets him just... not think about things for a while. No worrying about the people he misses, or wondering if he's going to see them again, or how much he wants to destroy those UE bastards before they can touch any other worlds. Just the simple concentration of keeping his footing amid the rubble, eyes out for anything of value.
