[Pepper said to show up "around 10." When Saul glances at his watch, it reports 9:45. Weird — he's not usually one to show up early, but then again, there's a distinct lack of Starbucks in this place. (This still surprises him. Among other things.)
He figures Pepper's the type to appreciate punctuality, and if there's one thing he wants to do today, it's impress. Yes, he's early; yes, he's eager; yes, he's in what he perceives as dire need of money and yes, Miss Potts, madam, you called exactly the right guy. Just like his still-outdated business cards say.
Before lifting his hand to knock — shave and a haircut, two bits — he makes a mental note to do something about the business card situation, then rocks back on his heels, waiting. Weirder than the fact that he's early is the fact that something about this situation has him feeling, of all things, nervous. It's the uncertainty, probably. He doesn't like it. Never did. And as much as he's run Pepper's words through his mind, as often as he's broken down their conversation and analyzed his plays, he's still not sure, exactly, what he has to offer Contrast Mechanics.
But then he remembers who he is and what he does and almost laughs.
What he has to offer them is what he's offered all of his clients: whatever it is they might need.]
