a collection of threads throughout June following the Dan's activity with one another as well friends connected to the Dan, put into one post to avoid spamming the comms. Sometimes a dan roll call.

Warnings: Uuuuuh idk lots of gross sick people. Dying! Sad teenagers and friends!

The virus is spreading, and even the Dan is catching it. And so are their friends. This is whatever they decide to do during June while sick. Prose and action spam friendly!

[She returns the smile, even knowing it's likely shaky and unconvincing. But he's worrying about her and not about himself when he's unwell, so unwell, and she just doesn't know what she can do to fix any of this. Just sitting up takes so much out of Shintaro and all she can think of to do is to return that smile.

She shakes her head at his apology.] Only because you're being so stupid. It's fine.

[Luke nods.] Yeah, no problem. [He turns and heads into the kitchen. He's the kind of person to like cold water, so he has a pitcher in the fridge ready to go. It's a short wait for a glass. He sets it out for Shintaro, and then goes to find a snack or something-- ah, here we go, some bread.]

When's the last time you ate something?

[He makes it quick. The syringes are the newer kind, where just a short prick is enough. None of the pressing the needle in from way back when. He doesn't answer Kido until he has brushed some antiseptic on her skin, followed by a round Band-Aid with a cute cartoony panda printed on it. He then helps her lie back down, awkwardness and everything temporarily forgotten. She's sick, after all.]

... I didn't. I don't know how fast the vaccine will help, but you should be fine now.

Her facial muscles strain themselves a little earlier to maintain a smile in the face of his implied denial. Her number is too high for most members to greet her with familiarity; she's all too aware of this.

"Here you go..." Extending her arm with the hoodie is a tricky affair when her other is so very full, but Kanaya manages it.

[That wasn't so bad. She can't help looking at the panda. It's really cute and distracts her from feeling too bad that she needs so much help still. Well, she babied him a bit while he was sick so it's only fair.

Kido rests her arm over her stomach as she looks up at him. He didn't get better. So, he died. Somehow it's a distant thought compared to everything else.]

I wasn't sick when I woke up. Jade gave me some medicine again, and then the Initiative got their vaccine. [And a trip to Alaska.]

I haven't gotten sick since, so you can say I'm doing fine.

[Shintaro glances at the coughing man to make sure he doesn't choke on his own phlegm.]

Not that long ago. I grabbed something this morning, but I haven't really sat down and eaten since getting sick.

[Luke frowns. He whips up a quick sandwich-- cold cuts, cheese, and homemade bread-- and hands it to Shintaro with the glass of water.]

This should keep you going for a little longer.

[She breathes out a light sigh, almost close to a laugh.]

Well... since you listened to me, if you need anyone, I'm not going anywhere. But it looks like you're doing something good with yourself. That probably helps.

I'm not thinking about it. It doesn't do any good to question it, for now. [He looks at her, scooting off the bed so she can have one that's not tilting with his weight.] Do you want water or something?

[HUFF] Nevermind! I don't know if I want to know anyway!

[No choking here, luckily. Asch does wheeze a bit before vaguely rolling to look in their direction.]

If you two don't mind, I think I'm going back to sleep.

Oh-- I should get going then. I have to go... give these out more, and it'd be easier to rest that way, right?

[Luke is a little worried about Shintaro, but there isn't really much he can do. He just has a bad feeling about all of this and it won't go away.]

... Nevermind. Thanks for everything.

Besides, you brought him the sick in the first place.]

Shintaro doesn't notice the strain. If she's someone Kano and Kido accepted into the dan, he supposes she isn't anybody immediately dangerous. But as he shivers a little from his fever and muffles a cough with his sleeve, he decides that he definitely doesn't have the energy to deal with a guest right now. He reaches out for the hoodie with a shaky hand.

"Thank you. Do you need money for this...?" He coughs again.

[You really need to get over that grudge, Asch.]

[He gives a last nod to Luke before turning to leave.]

She shakes her head just once at the question. "What? No." The goods in her arm get reshuffled so she's holding them in both. There, now it's easier. "If anyone would be paying me it'd be Kano. But almost all of you are infected from what I've heard. That's why I came over." With all this... stuff...

Maybe she can just shunt it off on Kaede.

[She didn't mean logically, though, she meant emotionally. Kido doesn't know how to put that and just shrugs.]

Some water would be good... I don't want to keep you long.

[No feels Kido. No feels. He nods and disappears into the kitchen for a second, before doubling back and asking her if she wanted cold water or room temperature? He'll come back with the appropriate water and hand it to her.]

I'm resting, aren't I? What more do I have to do before you stop saying that?

[He's drowning. He can't say that to her though, and as he thinks about how Kido disappeared after being shot he hopes that he might sparkle away, too, when Momo isn't watching. How could he leave her to deal with that, even for a short amount of time, when there isn't anybody else here who knows?]
