Gilbert isn't just an idiot. He's a hypocritical idiot. Being well aware of this fact doesn't change it at all, but even though Oz is lying in the hospital right now after he'd yelled at the boy for going on a mission while ill, he's allowing himself to be suited up and given a flash drive and list of things to bring back with him all while trying to ignore his temperature going up and the persistent, painful ache in his throat. This will be simple, he thinks. A quick trip, they told him. Just use the virus on this flash drive to destroy the data from the past and maybe barter a good price for this list of other things that he mostly doesn't understand.
Simple.
That is, if he understood what he was supposed to do with this flash drive once he arrives in the facility. What's he supposed to do with this thing. They said to plug it in, but where? Someone help?

Bartering successful, Gilbert is trying to make his way back to the Hold with the bag of supplies clutched in one gloved hand. It's already harder than normal to breathe in this suit, but his chest feels like someone has poured cement into his lungs and then laid down brick over the top. Meanwhile his head is swimming and he can't quite remember just where it is he's supposed to go in order to get back to Exsilium. Not only that, but the ground is starting to look closer and closer, and it occurs to him before the idea that he could be falling that he might be shrinking instead, except that the suit feels like it's shrinking along with him and that's just strange. Okay yeah, maybe he overdid it a little.
C:
Eventually he wakes up back in Exsilium, in an infirmary bed embarrassed and exhausted. Hopefully Kate got those supplies to the right people because there's nothing more he can do at this point than curl up in this bed with his hand over his eyes and hope that whatever was brought back with them is helping to produce the cure. And that it's not too late for anyone else.]
