Cherkesov's having memory problems just like the rest of the programs inside of this head, but he's fairly certain that before the apocalypse came, every organization in his whole entire world had given up on funding research into jetpacks. Because the things were so damn stupid. And inefficient.

Nikolai had seen the attackers go up in the air, and panicked. Cherkesov had taken over from there, ducking back inside the Hold, up the stairs, onto the roof. Just in time to see one of them start to swoop in.
