[closed] Fire on the mountain
Date & Time: July 13th, around mid-day.
Location: Casa de Wildling
Characters: Thorin Oakenshield
heirwithouthope and Ygritte
freewoman
Summary: Before his mission, Ygritte asked Thorin to help her out with her literacy, and he agreed on certain conditions.
Warnings: Sustained Silent Reading, and possibly the differences between Tolkien characters and GRRM characters, but most likely nothing.
[Thorin--if anything unchanging in his nature--was a dwarf of his word. Ygritte had asked him to help her with reading, and he said he would also check on the damage the bombing had done to her shelter. He would see both of those things done...or try to, when he could only guarantee one with complete confidence.
Durin knows what struck the girl to have her think it would be a good idea to take him on for such a task as letter-learning. The idea would've been laughable six months ago--it still was. But he still agreed to, didn't he? There was something in it for him if she'd let him look at her gun (especially now that he had family he needs to protect), but he has seen the conversation she had with Kili in his network post. This world and its effect on races that never put so much stock and trust in one another before. It was still difficult to get used to.
But once he feels secure enough in leaving his nephew by himself for an afternoon, Thorin appears with some materials tucked inside the folds of his tunic.]
