[the touch gets him to look back, fingers curling into his hair as he does so.

his mouth tugs a twitchy, timid smile, nodding, shoulders shrugging up. it's not so great – not really worth a whole lot of praise, and really not why he asked her to show up! wow, he hopes that's not what she thinks. that would be...really embarrassing. like twofold. like just dig a hole and let him curl up in it already...]
