[ That someone replies at all seems to startle him for a second, giving a slight jump when Collette finally speaks up. He did know she was there, kind of, in that 'someone is near you' kind of spatial awareness way, but until that second, he'd felt completely alone. It didn't matter if the room was somewhat crowded with people doing exactly the same thing, they didn't matter, they won't matter for a few days yet.
