I could not have put it better myself.

[Zevran does not wish Elissa to feel guilt: it is not a thing he understands. He does not function as she does, valuing the lives of others and caring how she does. She wonders if it disturbs her, that he was ready to leave the moment he found out there was a way out. He was only ever out to save himself, Elissa and perhaps Fenris and Merrill.

But because he does not understand it he is ill-equipped to assuage her of the guilt. He will not tell her he should not be concerned with it, because he does not understand her feelings in the first place.

And he loves her, so he does not wish to be callous.]


But I would not say you have forced anything. How romantic for us to spend time saving innocents together! Throw in a few darkspawn and inexplicably angry bandits and it would be just as old times.
