...Years ago, when the Archdemon attacked Denerim, the capital of Ferelden, the sky went dark with its power. It was as red as blood and many, many people died. Ostagar had been the same; the darkspawn had overrun the ranks and murdered all they could find.

[And dragged away the surviving Wardens and female recruits for things she will not think of.]

But after the dust had settled and the Archdemon had been slain, the sun came out. And for the first time in a year, those who had fought to end the Blight were at peace.

[And she remembers it, too: she remembers waking up on the tower with the sun in her eyes, with her friends beside her, and she was alive. She'll never forget the feeling.]
