[For those sitting at the long table in the back, your lunch space is likely disturbed by a nun spreading out multiple schematics and documents. While most of the conversation with her tiny, almost ever present companion is muted, her voices raises with exasperation.]

I like the first one best... but you're right, it's not a two man job.

He's right. I shouldn't blame fate.

[ Not when he can more properly blame things on himself. Even so, he finds the angel's touch comforting, despite his own guilty feelings. ]

[He pushes Break's bangs back a little, much like he would do to a small boy. He is even careful enough not to reveal the empty eye socket.]

You are thinking about the past again, aren't you? See, that is the problem with the Initiative's plan. The natural step is to create a better future.

[And so he is doing his best not to concentrate too much on what happened to the Exsiles, and try to fix what remains to be fixed. Lingering on that particular pain would destroy him, and those people need an angel here, now.

At least that demon got one thing right.]

Okay, there's touching somebody in a comforting manner. And then there's just fussing. Break twists out of Kevin's grasp, exactly like a small boy (this is getting to be a habit). ]

Mister Cecil.

[He cannot help but smile at Break's reaction. It reminds him so much of young master..]

Regardless, what I said remains true.

[ He does agree, actually: what's past is past; if you try to change it, the future has a way of catching up with you, as their presence on this moonbase attests. But rather than say so, he simply combs his hair back into place with his fingers, and affects a put-upon expression. ]

At the very least, Miss Rosette's little outing might be interesting. I confess to a bit of cabin fever.

...Ah, you would be.

[He says that in the most gentle and caring manner, which doesn't make him sound as if he had a mad crush at all.]

Still, if Mister Break wants some fresh air, they should take a walk on Saturn or something. Way better than risking their lives in some mad mission. He really doesn't want him to go.]

It seems I cannot persuade you to stay no more than I can persuade her...

[ All of this..... is more than he can really handle: this overt affection. Over time, he'd grown used to the attentions of Lady Shelly and Sharon. Lady Sharon, especially, had grown up beside him, so her regard for him is no great mystery. Reim and Gilbert too; moreover, their sort of affection was accompanied by enough shouting and disapproval to make it palatable.

But this.... Kevin's kindness, for no motive than he can discern, is overwhelming at times. It's hardly surprising, he tells himself. Kevin is an angel, behaving this way is simply who he is.

He can feel a blush rising in his cheeks, and finds he can't make any reply other than: ]

[The problem with Mister Break, Kevin tells himself, is that he manages to be endearing even when he is about to risk his life in the most foolish manner. That is certainly against his best interest.

Then again, he is in no position to judge. Besides, if he gave up on Mister Break, he would have to go through all the trouble of building this sort of bond with someone else, or remaining alone, and both options seem equally unmanageable. Especially now that the library has been destroyed.

That, and his duty as an angel, are the only reasons he stays so close. Certainly.]

...I-I might be able to help you with your cabin fever. [He hesitates, since his proposal is way too personal.] However, you must promise that you will not mock me.

[maddeninghatter]

I won't mock you.

[ It's spoken sincerely and quickly, enough to surprise even himself. ]

Not for that, anyway.

[He is still unsure and sounding like his coy maiden self, which, honestly, is not helped by Break’s quick acquiesce.]

R-remember, you promised.

[He gently holds one of Break’s overlarge sleeves and pulls him towards one of the VR rooms. This is the room he has created to look exactly like the Twining manor’s garden, flowers, fresh dew, soft breeze, singing birds and even English sunlight. ]
