[For those sitting at the long table in the back, your lunch space is likely disturbed by a nun spreading out multiple schematics and documents. While most of the conversation with her tiny, almost ever present companion is muted, her voices raises with exasperation.]

I like the first one best... but you're right, it's not a two man job.

I never said that you were. [ Technically. ] I just made a comment about the benefits of tea.

[ ARE YOU SURE YOU'RE NOT NERVOUS KEVIN. ]

[I AM PERFECTLY FINE SHUTUP.]

It is rather unfortunate that the benefits of tea do not include the end of plans that go against the laws of nature.

[overclocking]

[ He raises an eyebrow at that, and seems to relent on some of his dickery. ]

'Against the laws of nature'?

[Kevin shrugs, staring at the gathering group with increasing concern. He is not unfamiliar with the crowds fake miracles can gather.]

Time should not be tampered with by humans.

[overclocking]

[ This isn't the first time he's heard this opinion. Chrono can't quite subscribe to it; he was raised from birth to tamper with the timestream, with his very own hands. But the sentiment behind it is easy enough to understand. ]

Humans will always do things they aren't supposed to. [ Subjective as that is. ] It's what got them into this mess in the first place.

If there aren't any readily available miracles, they're going to resort to sins. And it might just save lives.

[senseandcecilbility]

I say, that is exactly the sort of reasoning one would expect from a demon.

[See, that is the problem with hell, and he is not taking this conversation personally at all.]

The resurrection of the dead is a rather infrequent miracle, and with good reason. Human beings are supposed to overcome their ordeals and build a better future for themselves, not obsess about changing the past.

[No matter how painful said past is.]

[overclocking]

[ And that's exactly the kind of cruelty he would expect from a messenger of the heaven that abandoned them in the first place.

His hopes of a decent, civil answer are shattered by the ensuing fit of derisive laughter. ]

[senseandcecilbility]

[What a terrible sound.]

This is no laughing matter.

[It is his people who is supposed to remain dead.]

[overclocking]

[ The laughter subsides, but the bitter irony does not. The answering smile is positively laced with it. ]

You're right. People who stand above humanity and want to decide what's right for them without walking beside them are the worst; there's nothing funny about that at all. [ He tries to ignore the cold-burning anger in his gut, and though the tone is pleasant enough, he really wants to shout it to the metal rafters of this (literally) god-forsaken moon base. ]

Down here on the ground, we're going to do our best to create that future you were just talking about, because it doesn't exist otherwise.

[Her attention snapped away from her conversation at the sound of Chrono's laughter. It's an unusual thing to start... but that tone...

Whether or not Chrono even hears her approach really doesn't matter. He really can't stop this.

WHAM!

She shoves his face into the table.]

How about we work on that plan! Rather than fight about it!

[overclocking]

[ EXCUSE YOU ROSETTE Chrono was working on the plan and it was called no angels invited. But his face does, predictably, meet table, which successfully stalls anything he was going to say or do.

He doesn't even bother trying to sit up; just stays there, sullen and cowed. He's at least wise enough to realize that this isn't a conversation to have in front of Rosette, anyway. ]

[senseandcecilbility]

[Kevin yelps in surprise and almost jumps back, but finds some measure of dignity by remaining on his chair.]

S-Sister Rosette!

[There is no dignity in his high pitched voice, though, but very obvious guilt. Again, the eternal dispute between heaven and hell has been postponed by the might of violent women.]

T-This is not what you are thinking!

[soul_sister]

It's not, huh? Next time it doesn't look like what it looks like, it'll be your face, too. [She does, at that, let Chrono go, crossing her arms.]

Honestly!

Separate sides of the table!

[overclocking]

Fine. [ He stands abruptly, rubbing his face. ] I already said what I came here to say, anyway.

[ He shoots Kevin one last cryptic look before turning on his heel and heading out of the cafeteria. ]

[senseandcecilbility]

[What an irritating fellow. Why does he always have to do that. As soon as Chrono leaves, he turns to Rosette:]

He started it!

[Not the most mature thing to say, but still.]

[soul_sister]

[She watches after Chrono's departure, trying to get a feel from his posture whether she should drag him back, follow or give him some space. Her compromise was to go find him later.

She sighs.... and in a flash of speed has a hold of Kevin's ear and pulling.]

Ehhh? Aren't you supposed to be taking the higher ground by nature?

[senseandcecilbility]

[Why does everybody bully him.]

I am! I am!

[Let go, lady.]

[soul_sister]

[She gives a few last good tugs and lets go with a huff.]

Honestly.

[She folds her arms looking at him with concern.]

Are you sure you really want to go on this? It's probably going to be violent.

[senseandcecilbility]

[It hurts, okay.]

This is not something I am unused to.

[He merely doesn't like it, and he certainly doesn't like when those he care about get involved.]

[soul_sister]

Fine... as long as you're not going to get in trouble for it.

[senseandcecilbility]

[Kevin cannot help but laugh. It is not even a bad sort of laughter, just a little sad. Rosette and Break are always overestimating him.]

...I would not. Not for this.

[soul_sister]

.... Don't laugh! I don't know what kind of rules you have about that kind of thing.

[He manages a contrite smile.]
