[For those sitting at the long table in the back, your lunch space is likely disturbed by a nun spreading out multiple schematics and documents. While most of the conversation with her tiny, almost ever present companion is muted, her voices raises with exasperation.]

I like the first one best... but you're right, it's not a two man job.

[He covers her hand with his own, still warm from the tea cup.]

You bribed me to watch over him, didn't you? I am not particularly bad...at watching.

[She laugh, a bright sound. She doesn't move her hand from under his, but the other waves the sentiment out of the air.]

This and that have nothing to do with each other. The first was kind of a selfish wish.

[Kevin should not care about her that much. Not when she is living the sort of life she is, not when her fate is already helpless and she doesn't even seem to mind that much, as long as her brother is safe. But he does care. Quite a bit, actually. And he wonders if that is not also part of his punishment.]

Something tells me you do not know how to be selfish, sister.

You've never seen me hoard baked goods then.

You and Mister Break have that in common.

[And young master. He wonders if he has some sort of baked-good-lovers fetish.]

[She makes a face, reminded....]

I really need to kick the thievery out of him...

[He lets out a tiny little sigh, reminded of his conversation with Break.]

He is indeed a thief.

.... I have more but I don't know if anywhere is safe from the table monster....

[Kevin gives the table a complicated smile.]

It is perfectly fine. I owe him pastries anyway.

You can pay them out to me. Absolve his debt.

Oh? I wonder if it would not be more appropriate to bake pastries for both of you.

[This much he has learned about children: please all of them equally and they won't fight among themselves...much.]

That wont be as satisfying.

I'm going for old style retribution.

[He looks away at that, unsure about what to say next. V-very old style.

At last, he manages a smile.]

What are your favorite flavors?

[He doesn't know if tastes have changed that much in half a century. What if in the future eggplant cakes have become extremely popular?]

[The looking away means Kevin might only catch a flash of a thoughtful look on her face before it's overtaken by the promise of baked goods.]

Strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, blueberry, cinnamon, peach, cranberry, sugar...

[He completely misses it, fortunately. Instead, he laughs at her reply.]

Sister, sugar is not a flavor, is it?

I shall mediate upon that. Would you like to help me wash the dishes?

[One more sane and domestic thing to do before our mission of bad decisions?]

Mmm. I don't mind.

[She stands up and pushes her chair in.]

[Kevin seems much happier like that, doing normal things that only require soap and water.]

[She's pretty handy with it herself, humming a few moments while filling up the sinks and setting up the drying tray. There's no one in the kitchen area, after a quick check.]

You know, we came up with a song for Uriel, too.

[A wet dish slips from Kevin's hand and hits the floor with a loud clatter. He immediately stoops to pick up the shards.]

...Oh? You did?

[soul_sister]

[Well that answers that.]

Oh jeeze. Here, let me get the rest.

[He laughs, nervously, and stands up again. This time, he is clearly avoiding her eyes.]
