maybe soon the storm will be tired of blowing
Date & Time: After zombies
Location: A corridor on the moonbase
Characters: Lea and Ahiru
Summary: A reunion!
Warnings: Nopeeee
[It's only after she's checked with her friends to make sure she's alright that she leaves her room in the housing ward, wandering towards the cafeteria. She's occupied with her thoughts, though, enough that she isn't paying attention to what's in front of her. Soon enough, this lack of attention leads her to bump into someone; a very tall someone, she realizes as she tilts her head up to apologize, only to see—
She pauses, shocked.]
Axel?

Axel?

[Turning a corner, glancing back over his shoulder because he's rather sure he's already walked this way four times, he makes an oof noise as he collides with someone. Backpedaling with a hand folded over his abdomen, he looks forward again to decide whether or not to apologize or scold whoever it was for not watching where they were going. The figure that stood before him definitely warrants the former, and he grins.]
Ahiru--you're here? [Of course she is, she's right in front of you, dummy. He'll hold off correcting her for the time being. He had never even explained anything to her that would make the change mean much anyway, so for now it was enough that she was here and she still remembered. Being remembered was always a nice feeling. And knowing that he could actually feel it? Yeah, that was kinda nice too.] Long time no see, huh.

[Even if it had been for a good reason and she wouldn't have wanted to deal with the undead, she's kicking herself for not being here to see him back. Still, once she recovers from the initial shock, there's a grin breaking out on her face. Being remembered is becoming a rarity for her as well, though if course she'd be pleased to see him no matter what. She remembers he'd said that he'd rather be here than in his world, too, and it's nice not to feel conflicted about the relief that comes upon seeing him again. ]
It's so good to see you again! What's been going on? What, er, happened to the stuff on your face?
no subject
[He scratches his head then, thinking.]
So it's... November now, right? Sheesh, I was gone for like two months, but I was home way longer than that. [Possibly longer than he can actually quantify, what with the whole... part where he was dead for a while.] Last time I was gone it was only a day here, but like a year back home. I just can't quite find a pattern with this place.
Ah--
[Observant Ahiru is observant! He knows the tattoos on his face had been fairly memorable--really, they'd made him look like a mime or something--but he hadn't expected her to note their absence so quickly! He's a little impressed.]
Oh, those. [He lifts a hand to his face to press a fingertip into his cheek where the marks had been, not really thinking about the action.] Got a refund, you might say.
[He's not really opposed to explaining to Ahiru. They might not know each other well, really, but he genuinely likes her, and she reminds him a lot of Roxas, to be honest. She's just so eager to please, so sincerely interested in everything and everyone. And also kind of a derp. Those are his favorite kinds of people, when he pauses to think about it.
[He suddenly misses Isa fiercely, misses the way the other boy would tease him all the time. He misses when Isa was fun. He quashes the pang of loneliness and puts that grin back on his face, though it looks a bit strained suddenly. He would get Isa back; surely it was only a matter of time.]
It's kind of a long story, but I could try and explain while we walk. [And then he looks a bit sheepish.] Actually I'm kinda lost; which way back to the dorms? I keep getting turned around.
no subject
Yeah, while we walk! That sounds good. [She lets out a little giggle, turning in the direction she'd just been coming from.]
It's this way. What room are you in?
no subject
[Hey, everybody needs a hobby, right?]
Riku's in 108.
So how's life on the moon been treating you? You have any more unexpected trips home while I was away?
[He's really not sure where to even start with his story, so... maybe he'll let Ahiru lead for now.]
sorry for the edit, housing page got updated sjkdhf
[A pause.]
If you ever get tired of sleeping on the floor, there's an open space in the room I'm in, so you can use it if you need. I'll have to ask who's in there, but it should be fine.
[She starts walking to 108 regardless, though.]
It's been alright, but nope, no trips home for me! How was yours, though?
no worries, i'm gomen for late
Nah, don't worry too much; giving Riku a heart attack would be kinda counterintuitive. I'd kinda like for him to stick around. I'll keep your offer in mind, though, I appreciate it.
[Roxas only has three people in his room, and Axel actually knows one of Xion's roommates, but it's nice to have options.] This place just needs more couches, I'm tellin' ya.
[He hesitates a moment, trying to think of the best way to explain his trip home. 'Well, I screwed everything up, one of my best friends died, the other one got all his memories wiped and he got locked inside a video game, I got the crap beaten out of me more times than I could count, and then I died. But then I got better! How 'bout those zombies!?' ... Yeah that one's out.]
Well, it was... interesting, that's for sure. I'm actually not sure exactly how long I was there; there's a bit of time that's unaccounted for, I guess you could say. [I was dead at the time.] But really, all things considered, it cleared a lot of things up for me.
no subject
[She smiles, tilting her head in curiosity as she brings forth more questions.]
That's good! I'm glad. What sort of things did it clear up?
no subject
Ah... [Sheesh, he's not even sure where to start. It's a really long and complicated story, and one he's not sure he's entirely ready to share. With a soft sigh, he takes an easy pace alongside her, shoving his hands in his pockets.]
Well, for starters, I found something I'd been looking for for a long time. Something I lost years ago and wasn't sure I'd ever get back.
no subject
[She perks up, clearly interesting as he finishes his sentence. The curiosity is obvious as she speaks.]
Oh yeah? What'd you find? I bet you were relieved to have it back, whatever it is!
no subject
Uh... [What'd he... find. Oh boy, this is such a can of worms. He's kept it to himself for so long that he's not even sure how to go about discussing it. Everyone who's here from home already knows the story, so he hasn't really had to think about it.
[He doesn't have to keep it to himself anymore, though. He's got his heart back, and The Organization can't hurt him--or Roxas, or Xion, or anyone--here.
[Lea pauses in his steps and pulls at the back of his neck, searching for words he's never really had to consider stringing together before.]
Relieved, heh. There's so much irony to that, you don't even know. [He covers his mouth a moment, then just looks at her with a hesitant expression on his face.] I'd lost my h... [Say it, stupid!] My heart. Ten years ago, the place I grew up was destroyed, and... [He sighs, shaking his head.] I guess I'm prolly not making much sense.
no subject
That makes total sense! And that's wonderful, too, I'm so happy for you! [A pause, and a wince.] I mean, not the part about your home being destroyed, that's pretty awful, but - your heart! What happened? How'd you get it back?
no subject
[He didn't think she was from a world within his universe, but maybe he's mistaken. When she asks how he got it back, though, he grimaces a little and rubs the back of his neck.] That... requires a bit more explanation, ah. [He starts walking again.] So, where I come from, there are monsters called Heartless. They consume hearts, and if you get attacked by one, you can lose yours. There are other ways, that's just the easiest to explain. So when my world was destroyed by them, I lost my heart.
But... that's not all, ah. [He absently presses his hand to his chest, then pulls it away, fidgeting.] When you... when you lose your heart, you're split into two pieces: the Heartless, which is a misnomer because that's the piece with the heart; and the Nobody, which is what I was when you knew me before. When I was called Axel, it was because I was the half of me that no longer had a heart.
[He pauses.] Follow?
no subject
[As she listens, though, walking alongside him as she does. She tries to follow as best she can, but the difference from what she knows of heartlessness makes it hard to understand. More than that, though, it's just strange - years of experiencing different worlds have made her somewhat accustomed to that, but not accustomed enough to keep up with this well.]
Wait, but when you were here before, you seemed all... Feelings-ish and stuff. Like, you didn't seem like you didn't have any emotions!
no subject
[He pulls at the back of his neck when she accuses him of being 'feelings-ish'.]
Well... the jury's still out on that, really. I've heard the theory that the body tries to replace that which is lost, so maybe I'd been regrowing a heart, but that just sounds creepy. I always just kinda figured that since we remembered what feelings had been like, it was kinda like muscle memory, you know?
[A shrug and he smiles faintly.] All I know for sure is, I don't think I'd be the person I am now if I hadn't known Roxas before. Emotions or otherwise, he made me wanna be a better person. [Even if he kinda blew it in execution.]
