[Already, Katniss has memorized what feels like practically every corner of the base. She can't sit still, can't remain in one spot for too long; that only magnifies the sense of impending suffocation. Walking isn't a perfect solution, but it's just enough to keep her at least marginally sane. Just enough to become part of a necessary routine.
At some point on her rounds, she comes across something out of what has quickly become ordinary: an open door to one of the VR rooms. When curiosity pulls her inside, she isn't prepared for what she finds. Another world entirely, complete with trees, mountains, birdsong, and the kind of fresh air that hasn't reached her lungs in what feels like a lifetime.
It's almost enough to convince her she's left the moon behind.
Almost.
But even with reality creeping at the back of her mind, there's a certain weight that's lifted from her, replaced by a lightness from days long gone. Closing her eyes, letting the sun warm her skin and the breeze play with her braid, it's as if the past few years are obsolete. As if it's early spring, just when the primroses start to appear, and Gale is waiting for her somewhere nearby.
If you're lucky, you might even be able to catch the faintest traces of a smile.]
