Like Ahiru, Sheena seems strangely familiar with the idea of someone having lost their heart, and Lea can't decide if that's a blessing for him or just an unkindness for her.

"It's kind of complicated, I guess," he says in response to her inquiry, rubbing his neck. "We retained our souls and our memories, yeah. We remembered emotions, but we couldn't..." His voice caught in his throat, like he'd snagged it on a thorn. He cleared it and shook his head. "Couldn't actually feel them anymore. Everything was just muscle memory."

He looks openly horrified by the last thing she says, though, his mouth sliding ajar for a moment and a strangled sort of noise eked out of the back of his throat. So it isn't even just that it's something that's possible in her world... it's something she's seen firsthand.

Lea hesitates, then meets her eye.

"What happened to them?" he asks, frowning. "Your friends who... lost their hearts."
