[ open ] work your fingers to the bone
Date & Time: December 14th/15th
Location: Exsilium, outside somewhere
Characters: Helena & yoou
Summary: Helena is making snowmen!! Of her sad family life or lackthereof.
Warnings: will edit if/when necessary
Helena has plenty of experience in the snow. She saw it outside the convent while she prayed in the windows, dared to sneak out on occasion and have snowball fights with the other children before everything turned awful. She saw it in the cities as she made her way across Europe in her killing spree. But she's pretty sure she's never seen as much snow as she has right here, in this weird version of Earth. Exsilium.
She hasn't had all that much opportunity for wintery recreation either.
Which is why she thinks it might be a little weird when she drops to her knees in the stuff and just starts moving her hands. The cold and wet seeps through her gloves, but she's oddly determined, rolling and packing, expression twisting between concentration and contentment as she works. There's something about the way she moves, though, something jumpy and guarded and very touchy-feely as she handles the snow.
When she finishes, she sits back on her haunches to admire her work.
Three snowmen. Two of them are bigger, clearly meant to be adults, and their design and shape are near identical, save for small touches. The third sits between them, smaller, with a broad smile on its face and sticks for arms reach out to hold the two beside it. The one on the left is frowning grumpily, with carved out hair stick straight down the back. The one on the right is smiling, though, something softer than the child, and the hair is etched in jagged waves (too close to her own curly hair to be a coincidence).
They're probably some of the most crudely made snowmen in existence, but Helena smiles at them anyway, her face both pleased and mournful. She reaches out, making the child's smile even bigger.
