strike a match

Date & Time: Friday, 20Dec, all day mission
Location: a cushy office in whatever the equivalent of like the UN HQ is probably like in Washington DC???
Characters: Katniss Everdeen [personal profile] resolve and Lea [personal profile] promises_to_keep
Summary: A couple of unlikely partners go to make a guy an offer he can't refuse.
Warnings: Probably a little roughing up of a suit, but nothing too bad? Will update if necessary.

Lea had never really paid much attention to politics growing up. He hadn't really had to, after all--Radiant Garden had been some manner of monarchy, so far as he knew, so it wasn't like he had been missing out on casting a vote.

So really, all he knew when he had accepted this mission was that there was someone he needed to persuade to see things his way, which was something Axel had always rather excelled at. Time to see if Lea still had the touch.

He hadn't really expected to have a partner along for the ride--he was used to working alone when it came to things like this--but when he realized it was that Catness girl Peeta liked he figured he could have done worse. She was a little too serious, in his opinion, but chances were that meant she wouldn't be a hindrance on a serious mission. He liked Peeta well enough, at that, so maybe there was more to Katniss Everdeen than met the eye.

Standing at the street corner, his hands in the pockets of a leather jacket and his hair pulled back in a loose spiky ponytail, Lea cast his eyes up the tall office building. It was getting dark, and there were only a few lit windows left; of course these government hoity-toits all went home before it got dark. Shame; they were missing out on the most interesting part of the day.

"Far as I can tell, this guy--Waterhaus, is it?" He looked at the file the Initiative had given him about one of the men who would cast a key vote, frowning at the photo. He was old, with heavy jowls and salt-and-pepper hair, grey eyes behind thin wire-rim glasses. "Looks like he enjoys working late, unlike most of his colleagues." He passed the papers to Katniss and looked back up the face of the building. "Whaddaya think: trouble with the missus at home, or just a workaholic?"
