Once Joey was gone, Francœur sighed. He did not lose hope, still trusting that the boy would come back. Now he just had to find something to do while he waited. He looked around.
Something was coming; he could hear it. He wondered if it was the boy. Yet it was not a boy, or a person, but a fluffy cat. It looked at him for just a few seconds before it began hissing at him. That was not surprising; cats have hissed at him before. It did not make him very happy, but it did not surprise him. Then it started leaping at him, its tail and back raised high.
That never happened before. So now, Joey would come in time to see a cat, much smaller than even the monster's foot, chasing Francœur around in circles.

At least he stayed in the area.
