Bending his arms was sharp and painful. Keeping them unbent made them throb and stiffen. There was no happy medium at all, though Martin tried, sluggishly, shifting in the place he'd fallen for some semblance of comfort. At least enough to let him sleep. Thick in his ears were no sounds of his own, but they ought to have been, for how close it was.
