[OPEN] my heart's headed in the right place.
Date & Time: Sept. 4, late afternoon.
Location: Rooftops of many buildings inside the city, mostly near the Initiative Hold. ... and the alleyway near the housing building.
Characters: Riku; open!
Summary: Sure, training and getting his moves and magic straightened out is good. But there are other things Riku needs to fine-tune, like his escape and parkour.
Warnings: None!
[ he hasn't practiced many of his escape maneuvers in a long time.
and, honestly, it was understandable--there was not much he could practice in the training area. going in and out into the hallway would just be embarrassing and confusing, after all. it's much easier to practice in an open space, and... well.
while he's doing that, there's no harm in reminding himself that he needs to be in tip top shape to be able to use terrain to his advantage.
To start, he runs sharply forwards, makes a wide jump onto the next building over, and skids across the concrete surface when he's done. with a sharp exhale, he backtracks, lowers himself so he's holding onto the edge of the top before starting to scale down carefully. he lets go halfway down, letting himself hit the ground on his feet (with a small wince, but he stands upright a second after).
it takes a few minutes for him to climb back up to that second roof, and then he's off again, though this time, he launches off of the roof with a twist of his torso, a flare of neon blue light coming from his hand as he aimed behind him. still sticking the landing.
it's two or so buildings forwards when he actually hits a snag. his jump is short, and although he tries to grab onto something--anything to slow his descent, he's unsuccessful.
so he kicks off the side of the building, looking like he'll hit the concrete face first, before he sharply reorients himself and hits with a thud on his feet.
he's barely able to mask his loud yelp with a groan, falling onto his rear as he tries to rest his aching, sore legs. his fingernails are scraped sore--bloody. ]
Great.
