It felt good to stretch his legs. Takegami used to jog in the early morning hours. Tokyo had been sleepy then, the press of people minimum, the lights just starting to flick off as sleepy commuters shuffle home for a good day's rest. He loved that time, even without the shuddering heat from another body behind him. This place was foreign to him though he had once been to England in his travels. He needed to learn the rhythm and the ways, and what better way to do that than have a nice long jog.

So packing some water, a hand towel and some money, he went jogging. Around the houses and down through the square, slowing to a walk and then speeding up. He stopped for a simple snack at one place - fruit and tea - letting himself cool off while watching the people around him. Then he was off again, working his way to an open area where he stopped and took a seat to watch the sun move across the sky.

[ ooc; bother him all you want! also will be at work soon so replies will be slow. ]

In London, as in Grand Chokmah, Jade had always gone on walks in the morning. The distinction, however, was that in Grand Chokmah, his walks often led him back to the Imperial Palace at the end, to get a brief unofficial report from Guy of anything he should know; by midafternoon in his office, between Sesemann's off-hand comments and Peony's relentless talking, Jade generally had the misfortune of being up to date on the entire political situation of Malkuth: backstabbing, petty arguments, and all. In London, his morning walks were also for news. In the afternoons he exercised by hunting down specimens, but in the mornings, he picked up information from his associates in the Resistance and purchased a survey of newspapers to compare over breakfast before Lion and Will woke up.

He chose to do the same here. He had purchased the first of his chosen circuit of newspapers when he spotted Takegami jogging along. That was one of the so-called transports, wasn't it? And Jade was certain he'd heard him say his name. Teijirou Takegami. Jade greeted him with a polite nod.

He hadn't taken a run, so it was no surprise that Jade didn't sound remotely out of breath. "Out for a morning walk?" It was smalltalk, and not Jade's specialty, but he didn't know the people here. It was worth cultivating some awareness of their existence.

Jade's own accent was all but English--it was learned in Victorian London, trained into him by a Japanese individual, and tainted with traces of the Fonic Language. Yet the hints were only hints. "I agree. Should I assume you're not twenty-first century Earth? All the transports I've met from that era seem to prefer the Internet."
