It was obvious Nash just couldn't do any heavy lifting— he wasn't young. But he'd appeared outside the building anyway, with a chair and a small table and a pitcher of lemonade sitting on top of it, sitting with his legs diagonal, his hand shielding his eyes from the sun. It was obvious that he intended to hand out drinks to whoever had the misfortune of laboring outdoors. Hydration was important.

What wasn't obvious was how he got the furniture out there if he was incapable of lifting things due to extreme advanced age.
