Do you think it only takes a few months to understand a technology you've never seen before and then discover something new and amazing that the people who created the technology haven't done before?

It might be possible with all of these people from different worlds, but who's the say Transports have access to that machinery in the first place? Besides, science doesn't usually work that way. It can take years just to come up with prescription medications and you're talking about sending people through time and space being figured out in nine months.
