An Unplanned Coincidence

Date & Time: October 10th, probably around 2 pm let's say just to get Sollux off.
Location: Unit 206
Characters: Kan-Mar and Sol-Cap and Er-Am (Is Eq-Zah in this? His apartment, his call)
Summary: Somebody is not taking somebody else's calls. Somebody else is taking slightly drastic action.
Warnings: Rainbow drinkers. Hope destroyers. Prophets of doom.

...well, if asked later, she would technically be able to claim she hadn't planned this. Technically, the fact that Eridan hadn't answered her calls on Saturday, Monday, or Tuesday had nothing to do with the fact that Sollux was her friend with whom she enjoyed spending time. The fact that they lived together was a coincidence.

She just happened to find it a pleasant one, and the sense that she and Sollux might be getting company was one that made her aura sharpen in excitement.

And, now now for the second time since Kanaya arrived, Sollux is letting her drink his blood. He's thought of it more as a once-a-week sort of thing that would probably happen, and Equius has been awfully silent since Sollux tossed him out a window, which is kind of concerning, but at least it means he won't be around to see Kanaya drinking from him and get weirdly jealous again. That still leaves his other roommate: Eridan.

Sollux is pulling back on his collar a bit, and tilting his head to the side as the two of them sit in the "living space" (ironically) area of the shared apartment.

"Okay. Go ahead."

"Alright," is all Kanaya says, before reaching the easy part: Planting her hand on his shoulder, leaning that little bit closer, and gently digging in her fangs to pierce his neck. The bloodsucking part is always quiet, with Sollux in particular: It has a certain perversely peaceful attribute in spite of the inherent goriness of it. Now that she's done this twice (and only two fangs this time - ha, ha; duality, ha), the act is especially neat, and a little briefer than before, owing to Sollux turning out to be a tiny bit of a pansy. But her pansy. In a bro kind of way.

"There. Done." Now she reaches up to bandage his neck, fumbling slightly with her mouth - ah, darn it, her lipstick is just a little more smeared than it normally gets, and she'll probably need a handkerchief of some kind to really get rid of that particular yellow stain... Oh, well. Sollux knew what color his blood was.

He'd been doing a fantastic job at avoiding people he didn't want to deal with lately - that counted for Sollux too, considering it had been a fair bit of time since he'd last spoken to the guy - but then this couldn't last, obviously. He should have expected things to take a turn for the worse in that regard, but he didn't; which is exactly why once he leaves his room out into the shared living area section of the apartment, the sight is all the more aggravating.

"What the fuck."

Despite his anger being split equally between the two in front of him, he immediately knows which one of them to blame for this, shifting his gaze to Sollux, though his attention is equally divided between the pair the best Eridan can manage. He isn't taking his focus off of one for the other for even a second.

"This was your doin', wasn't it? Couldn't off me by yourself or somethin', is that it. Just had to jump at the chance to drag her along with you didn't you."

He isn't bothered by the sight of his blood on her lips. If he had a problem with seeing his own blood, he certainly would have been fucking during SGRUB. And true, he is a bit of a pansy, but he's thankful she's taken less than she did before, he doesn't feel as weak as he did last time. He raises a hand to the bandage to feel it. "Oh, of courthe, Kanaya! You're welcome!" He says, overly sarcastic to note her lack of a thank you. He means it in a bro-way.

The moment's ruined, with Eridan's entrance. Sollux thinks in retrospect that they should have gone into his room instead of this open area. The yellowblood sighs, lazily glaring at Eridan from his seat on the couch. Absolutely everything about his posture screams 'I don't give a fuck about you.'

"I didn't do anything, I'm not trying to off you, and I'm too tired to deal with thith. Can we jutht not?"

Kanaya's posture, on the other hand, is almost literally a flashing neon sign announcing the ridiculous amount of fucks she gives about Eridan. Her glow triples in size the second he enters the room and feathers fervently at the edges. Look at the soft blue shades of the gown she wore today. They are open and friendly, like she is.

"Hey, Eridan. There you are. I had started to get moderately concerned about whether you were actually in this city at all. Since you haven't exactly been prominent in the public ocular globe for the past week or so. Including not even answering any of my calls." Does that last sentence have the edge of an attached ex-girlfriend, staying undead in the hopes that her target will finally acquiesce to her view of the world? Maybe.

Oh, if only dealing with Eridan's theatrics was as simple as asking him to not do it. If only.

"Yeah, right. As if I'm gonna spot the two a' you in the same room conspirin' an' plottin' an' whatewer else is goin' on here, right outside my own respiteblock at that, an' not get what's really goin' on. Seriously, what ewen is this? Are you two in cahoots now or somethin'?"

Kanaya's comment is a little disarming if only because it's much less hostile than he'd expect...but he shakes it off relatively quickly. TRICKS AIN'T GONNA WORK ON HIM SYLPH.

"An' you-" Turning his head in Kanaya's direction. "Concerned? I'm so sure you were. I told you already to cut that the fuck out, didn't I? It ain't gonna work - I'm not fallin' for whatewer it is you're tryin'a pull here."

"Yeah. We're two-tally in cahootsth right now. Better watch out now, I know your weakneth- it'th girlsth in fashionable dressesth." Really, Kanaya, it's probably not a good idea for Sollux to be around if you actually want your pale/ashen-romance-whatever to go well. He's just going to irritate Eridan further- which it's Eridan's fault he's irritated to begin with.

"Pleathe. What the fuck do you think she could even pull, Ampora? She can't lie herthelf out of a paperbag. I'm pretty sure she jutht wantsth to talk to you."

Or is this an auspisticism in the making? No... no, it's really not, and Kanaya sees that already.

As it is, Kanaya just crosses her arms, and the rays from her body become sharper than the angles of her elbows even as her hands are half-hidden. "Please is right. I don't know why this whole farce has gone on so long. Look, I feel very welcome, thoroughly trolled and all; but a week is more than enough. Sea dwellers win. You've out-trolled the jadeblood. Now she has to take both of you out for ice cream or something. It will be my treat. As long as you stop avoiding me. Because you are really getting way committed to the fantasy."

"There ain't absolutely nothin' fictional about this at all! I mean am I seriously the only one who ain't lost his mind all of a sudden? You're expectin' me to do what, engage in frequent banter with the psycho who cut me in two, an idea bein' supported none other than by a guy who wery clearly got it out for me at that. That's downright suspicious goins-on right there."

Honestly, he feels like he should just leave, but holding a grudge and having it fester over time into something worse is just what happens with Eridan - he'd trust these two as far as he could throw them - so it is really weird that everyone's acting as if he's acting strange for being suspicious of either of them right now. He's too confused by all this to let it go.

Sollux is just plain spacing out during Kanaya and Eridan's arguing/pleading, whatever it is... and as embarrassing as it is to admit, he only managed to zone in because the number two was mentioned. He sits up straight, looking back to Eridan in slight surprise. He knew Eridan was afraid of Kanaya, knew (sort of, it's a bit fuzzy) from the castle that Eridan had been killed by Kanaya, but he never had stopped to think much about how one would die via chainsaw.

"Wait, she cut you in two?" And, once again the very most non-helping manner, finds himself smirking and laughing a little. "Holy shit, I wish I had seen that!"

"I did not!!!" Kanaya cries out immediately, and at the same time she's on her feet with that eerie rainbow drinker alacrity, with balled fists that are the center of long, rapidly shifting light beams. "I don't know where this idea could have even come from. But it isn't funny anymore; it never was; and you need to stop. Right now. For your information - not that you would know because by your own admission you were never around for that - Gamzee is the only troll I have ever killed. And I intend to keep it that way, in spite of your increasingly indecent implications and depressingly unpredictable slander."

Oh dear god, he doesn't know which of them to shout at. Kanaya might be annoyingly persistent with her denying the whole bifurcation thing, but Sollux is just...Sollux, goddamn.

"Oh yeah, I bet you do! Oh, but wait, you newer will cause you're too busy being dead by that stage! Somethin' to look forward to when you get outta here, right Captor!?"

Back to Kanaya then...no, definitely angrier here, if only because he can't really get anything from mentioning how he killed her, considering in the end she came back and had the last laugh. Sure can still get pissed though!

"So eweryone keeps sayin' you did an' you deny it? Ewer think maybe eweryone else is right an' you're wrong?! Cause that's exactly what's happenin' here Maryam! Stone cold fuckin' murdered a guy with your Chainsaw an' what, maybe he's the wrong one? Oh, wow, yeah, sure musta been that other freaky glowin' monster posin' as a troll! Cause there's just so many a' them floatin' around, right!?

"Deny it all you want, you killed me! An' I'm newer - NEWER - goin' to forgiwe you for that! Do you get it yet? I hate you! I hate you an' the fact ewerythin' was goin' great here then you had to show up an' ruin ewerythin'! So whatewer you're doin', stop, cause it's wastin' your time an' more importantly, mine!!"

"Yeah, tell me thomething I didn't already know, Ampora." He's pretty okay with the death thing at this point. Honestly, he's only predicted and foretold his 2x Combob Death a million times already. Still, going blind sounds like a huge bummer, since it means he won't be able to see Eridan bite the dust.

There's so much yelling going on between Eridan and Kanaya, that Sollux really doesn't even want to be here anymore. But things are just going to get worse if he doesn't say something and it's DEFINITELY NOT A PALE OR ASHEN SOLICITING HERE, but he just wants everyone to stop yelling because fuck he has enough of that happening already.

"Okay, okay okay, jutht- fucking thtop it! Both of you! Eridan you thound like a coddamn two-thweep old piece of shit who eatsth their own thnot, tho shut up for a thecond. Kanaya, what he'th thaying... it'th not a joke. He'th talking about the alpha timeline, from the meteor. What happened to both of uth, we... took different routesth than Eridan. From a random point in time, inthtead of fulfilling the right way thingsth were thuppothed to happen, we took a detour. Tho thingsth happened differently for both of uth than it happened for Eridan. Do you get it?"

As soon as Eridan directly, indicatively accuses Kanaya, she goes out like - well, a light; and so thoroughly, too, that if either of the others were to get very, very close, they might even be able to discern the gray underlying her glowing superdermis. Her pupils are the thinnest of pinpricks on plaintive silver irises appearing widened in her shock, the rest of her eyes just... washed out, sort of like being bloodshot but more like lightshot. Basically her entire face - and her other posture too, she takes a huge step back once Eridan's done speaking - screams "emotional wreck", with a side of "headlight antlerbeast" as she perks attentatively towards Sollux while he attempts an explanation.

Finally, with pitiful undercomposure, she asserts: "I'm no Maid of Time; but that is really the poorest excuse for an alpha timeline I have ever heard of. Sollux, Doom is your area of expertise; come on, now. It's so - obvious."

"Don't tell me when to calm down! I'll clam down when I'm good an' rea - fuck, I mean calm down! You better cut out the fish pun thing too before I rip that disrespectful tongue right outta your mouth."

Wait for it. Waaaait for it. W-ok, he's calming to the best of his individual ability to do so. Taking deep breaths, cutting out the shouting...annnnnd done. Well, mostly. He could still easily fly off the handle again if given good reason. Or any reason at all.

"Do what you want, but I said my piece as to why I'we been ignorin' you an' wantin' nothin' to do with you either. If after the word a' three trolls on this you still wanna deny ewerythin', fine, but it's nothin' to me what you do as long as you just leawe me the fuck alone."

"You think I don't know it's a shitty alpha timeline?? You think I didn't tell everyone they were going to die perigeesth before it even happened?? I already knew thith wath going down the wathtetubesth before I even ran the gamegrub and told you all MULTIPLE TIMESTH that we were all doomed!! And who believed me, let'th have a show of handsth! Oh right, NO ONE. Tho thtop acting tho fucking thurprithed that oh no, thingsth got bad becauthe I already THAID IT WOULD." Yeah, that composure he had moments ago couldn't last long, and now that everyone else has calmed down, it's about time he completely lost it.

He's standing now, unable to help the very short-lived sparks that flicker out from behind his glasses, before he calms down enough that at least he's not screaming. "I don't even know why you want to be friends or even talk to him- he kills you before you kill him in the alpha timeline anyway."

She studdenly stares down at her staticky, arhythmic flickering white hands. "Oh," she whispers, as suddenly it's so obvious. "So that's how all of you knew." That she was a rainbow drinker, that somebody had killed her and made her undead and, perversely, happier than she'd ever been in her life for so long.

She tries to imagine it, briefly, Eridan flipping his shit at Sollux and - then - her, Eridan a manic murderer targeting everyone on the meteor, needing to be stopped, inducing an inevitable rational decision-making process... but it is heinous, and not the fun kind, and the cognitive dissonance makes her think pan sore around the edges. He wouldn't have done it... he couldn't have, not cowering and cowed by - by electroshock.

"I... I don't know." It's an honest answer, however pathetic. She wanted to be friends with someone else, who's dead and not even by her own hand. She wants something to do with him and that's the one thing she's not allowed to have - or by all intelligence, to want at all now.

"...if you're gonna blow a gasket an' wreck this place up, you're payin' for it outta your own money, got it Captor."

He says that in a much flatter tone of voice than he'd been using a moment ago, mostly because this entire shouting match has been emotionally exhausting; at least moreso than the usual arguments and the like he gets into. He just doesn't have the energy for this anymore.

So now in the hopes everything is settled, he begins making his way across the room from his bedroom's door to the exit of the apartment, cape trailing along behind him.

"An' try an' be gone before I get back."

Guess who that's directed at! Five points! No second guesses!

"I'm not paying for shit," Sollux snipes back, before settling down again. He sits back down, although it's more like a flop, exhausted from the fight as well. He really wants a nap. With a heated blanket. He needs a heated blanket.

But now that Eridan's on his way to leaving, Sollux looks to Kanaya, eyebrows furrowed. "Are you okay?"

Kanaya doesn't really look okay. Her makeup is still a little mussed, only more so after that whole outburst, and the blood she never got rid of has begun to cake uncomfortably on her face.

But she draws her arms flat to her sides and only shivers a little bit, flickering with what could pass for a semblance of control. Finally, after several seconds of silence, with forced composure she announces, "Physically, yes." And then flicks the blood off her face into a trash can, with the addition of "Thanks."

After that, as is probably expected by now, she's rainbow drinker gone.
