His reflexes, at least, were sharp enough that he takes a step backwards when Eshkol steps forwards. He looks a little surprised by it, however--and he can only assume that maybe he's actually offended the other where he meant to give respect.

Instead of offering more awkward apologies or bows, he just steps out of Eshkol's way.
