The Final Countdown

Date & Time: Afternoon of the 2nd.
Location: Unit 904
Characters: Lee Chaolan, Margulis, and Isaac Clarke
Summary: Three badass men gathered in the same room can create some interesting conversations.
Warnings: Loads of sarcasm, language, a bit of small talk about weapons and women, and some other mischief that could happen along the way.

Lee entered the suite wearing complete camouflage, armor that had seen better days and a rapier which looked out of place.

He grinned and strolled on through the room as if he was accustomed to dystopia. Otherwise refined and polished, he didn't seem all that bothered by his surroundings. He removed his helmet first. He shook his silver hair free with a deep exhale. "I will be pleased when the day comes that I can return to better days. Alas, the appearances that my work is never done is a constant no matter the reality."

His contact covered eyes scanned the room and took the middle room. With his helmet in hand, he lightly traced a gloved finger over the table and placed the helmet down. "Housekeeping can use a bit of work. No matter. It's a minor issue."

His hands moved to unbuckle the chest plate and spine guard. The metal snap clips needed strong hands to depress the sides to slide the male end away. Three of them held the whole thing in place. He shrugged out of the heavy thing and it landed on the floor with a graceless thud. Lee flinched slightly. He had forgotten how heavy it was. "Heavens." He bent down to pick it up and set it aside next to the couch until he could find a better place for the shielding. The same went with his gloves, rapier, utility belt, and grieves.

He sat on the couch with a heavy sigh of relief. At least he caught the tail end of the war this time.

Margulis wore no armor when he walked into the apartment, but the saber hanging at each of his sides and the scar running from his hairline to just under his mouth marked him as a warrior all the same. He was silent as he glanced about the room, noting that it obviously hadn't been lived in much before settling on the only other person there.

"Well, I suppose it was too much to hope for that I would have my living quarters to myself. I hope you don't intend to be too disruptive."
misplacedxsheath: (What a waste.)

The comment about a lady friend earned an expression of distaste and he crossed his arms.

"That falls under the category of information best kept to oneself."

Margulis let out a low sigh of annoyance, but otherwise reigned his irritation in. If he was going to have to live with this man, he couldn't let an annoying sense of humor get to him, after all.

"I should hope so. This is hardly the kind of place to squander one's time with pointless diversions. Particularly ones that could so easily complicate matters with a potentially needed ally."
misplacedxsheath: (I can afford to be smug.)

The annoyed expression on Margulis' face shifted to a smirk and he nodded in approval. He took silent note of the contacts, but didn't seem to think much of them.

"Getting the lay of the land, such as it is, is also a worthwhile aspect of such an endeavor. Since we clearly aren't safe from enemy attack here, knowing the terrain even beyond the city itself should be to our advantage."

Vibrant purple eyes looked back, entirely unphased by the odd color of Lee's eyes. Maybe it was because of his own strange eye color, or maybe he simply didn't consider silver eyes worth comment, but he didn't even seem to notice them as anything out of the ordinary.

"Of course. An excursion of that nature is served far better with multiple members taking note of and making considerations about details they discover. It would be an unacceptable waste to leave something worthwhile unnoticed simply because one person failed to notice it or realize its significance."

Margulis, on the other hand, was not pleased by what he'd heard about the United Earth and all he had to go back to was a much more confusing and uncomfortable prison world.

Margulis wouldn't have cared either way. He was one of few people in his universe who held no bias against mutants, natural or artificial. It probably helped that he was from a long line of humans with a naturally ocurring but still unusual genetic ability.

"If anyone thinks infighting in this situation is in any way acceptable, then their idiocy truly knows no bounds."

He accepted the handshake with a firm but somehow restrained feeling grip. The fingertips of his gloves were made of some sort of stiff material that held them in their claw shape despite the slight pressure against them.

"Margulis, former commander of the U-TIC Organization's militant fleet."

There came a jingling of keys at that point, as someone at the entrance unlocked the door to let himself in. If one listened carefully, there was a soft murmur about how he'd only seen keys like these in the media, but otherwise, it was a quiet entrance. At least until the man spotted the other two in the apartment. Well, colour him surprised. He wasn't expecting roommates.

"I... uh. This is 904, right?"

He let out a snort that was almost a caustic laugh as he glanced out the window himself.

"Fools exist in any world. It's impossible to escape them entirely, the best we can do is show those who are willing to listen the error of their ways and try to keep the rest out of our way."

At the interruption, he turned back to the door and frowned.

"It is. Another roommate, then?"

Figures I'd forget to track this after I tagged in, wow self.

The clash in welcomes puzzled Isaac for a bit, but he didn't let it linger.

"Well, good to know I'm in the right place. I guess that does make us roommates." Isaac gave the two a brief nod, though he wasn't entirely sure what to make of the zeal of the man with... silver hair? Maybe it was more that it was such a stark contrast to the other man that threw him off.

"I'm Isaac Clarke. Just arrived here."
misplacedxsheath: (Who thought that was a good idea?)

Oh well.

Margulis seemed unimpressed by Lee's enthusiastic welcome of the new man but nodded in acknowledgement.

"Margulis. I'm a new arrival as well."

Yes. Yes it is. 8D

"I uh... it's nice to meet you, too." The greeting seemed forced for the most part, Isaac hadn't really been able to meet new people under such normal circumstances in quite a while. It wasn't unwelcome by any means, but to be thrown into such a, dare he say it, 'regular' lifestyle again so suddenly was the slightest bit jarring. Lee's extended hand was grasped firmly, if not a bit slowly.

"We're all new, huh? And here I was thinking I could get a bit more insight on this place." There was a lapse, but only for a second before Isaac added almost sheepishly. "No offense."
misplacedxsheath: (What a waste.)

Good thing nobody thought nothing could go wrong, huh?

Margulis didn't offer a handshake himself, instead crossing his arms. Pleasantries had never been his strong suit, and he didn't see much point in offering them unless the other person seemed to expect something of the sort.

"Then use the network. So far, I've managed to establish through it that the United Earth is indeed hostile toward the entirety of this island and that we arrived quickly after a bombing and attempt to destroy the pitiful population here with monstrous creatures."
murderyourmarker: (✷ But Confidence Won't Get You Through)

LOL Good times are abound.

Isaac nodded. What Lee had said certainly seemed like sound information, but truth be told, he'd much rather hear the opinion of older Transports as opposed to what the Initiative might offer, and then he'd form his own conclusion from there. Isaac wasn't sure he was ready to trust any organisation ever again.

"A bombing?" He'd seen evidence of the monsters, so there was no need to question that. "Sounds like we missed a party."

He didn't sound too disappointed though.
