The concern actually got a small smile out of Scott, because - yeah, he'd been alone, and it had kind of sucked. So it was nice to have someone asking, even if the circumstances were kind messy otherwise.

"Been better." There was even a touch of self-deprecating humor in his tone. It was definitely a deflection, but he'd been dealing with this on his own for a month and there was no reason to focus on old wounds now.
